Summer Placements 2008 at NITIE
"The Secret of Success is Constancy of Purpose"-Disraeli

The quest to succeed mirrored on the faces of every NITIEan, as Summer Placements for the batch of 2009 took off in style. With loads of companies lined up for the recruitment process, the students were raring to have a go at their dream companies. NITIE has seen amazing placements happen over the years and this year the records have only got better.
The placement process had companies from various sectors come down to the campus and offer projects across varied domains. The projects would be implemented in the respective companies and provide a platform for the students to implement the knowledge acquired so far into practice. This provided an opportunity for the students to judiciously make a choice and choose projects and companies based on their desired career paths.
The process involved the participation of over 60 companies and the total number of offers made was 1.6 times the total number of offers accepted. This year saw leading organizations like Lehman Brothers and J.P. Morgan Chase participating in the summer placement process.
The placements in the Banking and Financial Services sector were an apt indicator of the growing interest in this domain. Ruling the roost were the investment banking profiles offered by Lehman Brothers, J.P. Morgan Chase and ICICI Bank. The other firms that had offered profiles in this sector included the likes of G.E. Commercial Finance, DSP Merrill Lynch, American Express, HSBC, Citibank, Standard Chartered and ICICI Prudential.
The Consulting sector was well represented by majors like Ernst and Young, MindTree Consulting, SAP VE and SAP ISSG. Ernst and Young was a major recruiter in this sector and made 15 offers across a wide array of consulting profiles.
The FMCG companies continued to attract students and offered profiles across the Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain Management and I.T. functions. The companies from this sector included Procter and Gamble, Hindustan Unilever, Nestle, Asian Paints, Cadburys, Britannia, Marico, Reckitt Benckiser, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, Colgate Palmolive, Johnson and Johnson, Castrol, Monsanto, Perfetti, Frito Lays, Titan, Raymond and Godrej. Major pharmaceuticals like Glenmark and Ranbaxy also made their presence felt with a substantial number of recruits. Procter and Gamble was a major recruiter in this sector and made 9 offers in all.
The IT and Systems Sector was represented by the likes of IBM, Intel, Tata Consultancy Solutions, Cognizant Technology Solutions and Patni Computers. The automobile/manufacturing sector was also well represented by giants like Tata Motors, Essar, Ceat, Maruti Suzuki, Hindustan Motors, RPG and TVS Motors.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Ashok Pundir, Associate Dean (Placements) said, "The banking and financial services sector continued to attract students at an increasing rate. This sector, coupled with the FMCG sector that has always been NITIE's forte and the other sectors, have ensured that this year's summer placements gave the students a more diverse set of profiles and companies to choose from.
