Life @ FMS MBA-MS(South Campus) : Campus News! - 16-08-2009, 09:16 PM

Ok, I come here on the thread and find that it is woefully outdated :( .. Let me do the needful and put up some tidbits of whatever has been happening at FMS for the last one and a half months..

The session started on 1st July, with a common inauguration of both the MBA and MBA(MS) courses. The classes started on 2nd July, and with that started the Induction period for us.

The Induction period, conducted by the seniors for us, was a hectic 15-day process, which involved loads of on-the-spot presentations, case studies, KT sessions by seniors, write-ups, designing ads for Radio, TV and Print media and fun activities like the entrepreneurship event (an event, where the task was to maximize your capital, starting with Rs 50 in hand) etc. It was a busy time, but at the end of it all, it seems that each and every activity here would help us in the long run.

The classes taken by the faculty were, as expected pretty good (With renowned faculty like Dr. J.K.Mitra, Dr.H.V. Verma, Dr.R.K.Gaiha and many others teaching us, the classes were bound to be good )

Post the 15-day induction, we have been participating in loads of other extra-curricular activities as well, be it projects, tasks set to us by seniors, General elections for various committees and much more.

More updates will be forthcoming very soon about the rocking life at FMS MBA(MS). So you know what to do: Watch This Space!!

Cheers!
Sushant Bahadur

After induction life became a bit hectic. Sbahadur ji you forgot to mention the Hillary Clinton visit to DU where FMS junta got the chance to attend the session
Smash, being organized by sparks commity, is starting today. All Pulela gopichandz and saina Nehwals will get the chance to show their racket prowess from today. We also have a GL tomorow on 'Neurobics'. so a lot of masti with some studies.

Hi,

Although one of the FMSites helped you here, please understand that this forum is not focussed on the admission process for FMS Programs. The purpose here is to deliver a snapshot from time-to-time of all the activities taking place at FMS.

As Diwali approaches and our life at FMS completes about three and a half months, it is probably time to reflect about a few of the things that have happened till date.

Annual Conclaves:

Markibrand '09 : The Annual Marketing conclave was a fitting start to the season of conclaves. Spanning two sessions across the day on 5th September, the event was themed on "R.I.P. Brand Loyalty" and called in speakers from prominent industries like Nike, Kellogg, Tag Heur, O&M, Intel, ITC, among others

Finanza '09 : What followed next was the Finance Conclave, dealing with the way forward in leaving the financial crisis and approaching economic recovery, aided excellently by the words of knowledge and wisdom by experts from Standard Chartered, Rothschild, CRISIL Ratings, IDBI and Financial Express.

ConneXion '09: The two conclaves in core functional domains of management were followed by an event full of excitement and bubbling enthusiasm. ConneXion '09, an effort by the Entrepreneurship Cell at FMS MBA (MS) involved startup providing excellent Live Projects for students to work upon and learn from.

Other Happenings - 16-10-2009, 05:07 PM

Plenty of other things have been taking place at the campus:

1) The Smash Season of Badminton Championship
2) The Intra-FMS MBA (MS) Cricket Tournament.

3) Several Guest Lectures from Executives, Vice-Presidents and highly placed officials of companies like Bausch and Lomb, Xerox, Dominos, The Economist among others, dealing with areas as diverse from B2B Marketing, Pricing Strategy and HR Policies to Green Marketing, 6-Sigma, Economic Recovery etc.

4) Probably the most important event in this semester has been the Summer Placements of the batch of 2009-11. The entire batch has been placed for the summers in their fields of choice, with a plethora of companies to choose from viz. Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Coke, Kellogg, Reckitt Benckiser, TTL, MTV, Hewitt India, Airtel and many many more.

So, lots of happenings at FMS, the campus has been buzzing with activity. The next in line is the Consulting Conclave to be held in the last week of October, followed of course by the end-semester exams in November.

Rock On!!

Re: Life @ FMS MBA-MS(South Campus) - 18-11-2009, 01:03 AM

The second semester has begun. Life is supposed to be a little easier now. First semester was hectic. Quite unlike what people had told me initially.

I'll let you know on to a secret. I still don't know much about Accounts. I kinda despise the subject. I don't really know why, but I do.

It is the forms and exams time of the year again. I feel weird when I come across aspirants who are there on campus to submit the forms and all. Time passes so quickly. I was doing the same a year back, but it feels like it's only been days.

I like the people in my batch. Initially, I was apprehensive. I thought everyone would be too serious about life and everything. But they are a lot of fun to be with. I was also amazed at the creativity that flowed out during various assignments, presentations and games. These are really creative people.

Hostel life is so much fun. I'm not in the hostel, though. Delhi people don't get the hostels. I sometimes go and stay as a guest when times are hectic and all. The setting is really serene.

You know, I don't really know why I'm writing this at 1 am in the night. Just felt like it. We have "Business Communication" tomorrow. First class. Sounds interesting.

I'll keep you updated.

Life is. Get used to it.
