Hi JingBangLot!!! Its night almost and I still have nothing to do. So lets begin.. I say Quizzing is an art. I say that because not everyone can be a pro at it,it cannot be taught, not everyone can be intuitive enough to guess,,, and not everyone can be creative enough to see patterns. I know the skeptics will not agree. But seriously I know a person here who saw a logo and said the colour is so not “fitting” with the history of the company. She actually managed to redirect our thinking efforts and we managed to crack the right answer. Oh yes,,you may say she knew about the logo, the subconscious totally recognizing the variation,,but I’ll still stick to my art theory!! After a good 1 week of mid-sem exams, ,there came a gap when none of us knew what to do . God answered our prayers and finally 4 students gave the campus a reason to celebrate. IM-NU has won the BIM Trichy Online Quiz . Our teams bagged the first and the fifth place this year. So the Mocking Birds and X-QuizIT team have made us all so proud of their brilliant performance in the quiz. Some of the top B schools in the country including the IIM’s had participated in the quiz. Since the members of the Mocking Bird team are not here,,cant mention their names without permission. But I guess every regular pagal would know Mahip . Sir managed, with his partner Raghav Rastogi, the 5th place in the event. Well good to see the facchas in action. Hopefully this duo will continue with the quizzing tradition on campus and win the forthcoming quizzes too. Did I tell you that our alumni have proved their mettle at the TATA Crucible as well?? Goodness Gracious!! The Ahmedabad edition of Tata Crucible saw IM-NU at its best. - Winner: Institute of Management, Nirma University (Mitesh Shah and Vivek RAO)
- Kunal Mehta and Kunal Mathuria came third in this event.
Mitesh and Vivek mad us all so happy by winning the 4th place in the zonals as well. With 8 more months of campus life left for second years, I believe the Mocking Birds will get back the Tata Crucible title again. Well for all of us, there’s reason to celebrate over the weekend and party

Well, the Mid-Terms (our first ones) are over at the planet IM-NU
Most of you will be tempted to repeat the most cliched question that : "Paper,Kaise hue?"
My reply to all those "Exam kabhi kharab nahi hote, kharab to result hota hai..."
So, just wait for the results
We thought we would be having some relief after the Mid-Terms but the situation is absolutly the other way...Mid-Terms ended yesterday and tommorow we have three assignments submission....ho gaya na HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY
But this midterm brought Cheer for us, as with the end of the MidTerms IM-NU emerged as the Winners of BIM-Trichy's Online Quiz..
hope to have more celebrations in coming time...
The coming month seems to be full of events as Talent Night, Managaement Conclave have already lined up....
So, lets ROCK as we have been ROCKING | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to itsmerusty For This Useful Post:

| Monday Morning Blues!! -
06-08-2007, 09:09 AM
Hi,
Well quite blue actually. Its Monday and all students are supposed to be in formals .
I never understand why more than half of the batch turns up wearing blue on Monday . I once sat through a lecture and counted 30 blue shirts in class . Mayb we cud run a colour of the day contest one day(n 4 sure if its monday ,blue will rule!!)
And the beauty of the colour lies in the fact that no two shirts are identical..So as one of my friend says there is a plethora of shades ranging from light blue to dark, to hazy to sea blue.
Ya sometimes its due to the friendly neighbourhood dhobhi that the variety increases !! Whatever,, I have 4 classes lined up for today and am really in no mood to go. The facchas have only three. So by 5 evryone is going to be free.
Me off for my bfast

| Introspective!! -
06-08-2007, 06:46 PM
Hi JingBangLot!! Let’s say I am in a “Gyan-ical” mood!! There are many kinds of schedule; there are schedules that bind us, schedules that control us, and then schedules that direct us!! Mine unlike the Marketing one, gives me some breather during the day. So I have time to post on pg, think about my day, and plan what I should share with any one who might happen to read these reflections. Somehow I am not comfortable about using the tag “Life @Institute of Management, Nirma University”. Instead of this I’d prefer talking about “People @Institute of Management, Nirma University”. Are the two different? Yes they are. In an age where money can buy anything to improve the quality of life it’s the people you are with that improves your life or totally changes it In short it’s your Human Resources that make or break you . This is one of the biggest learning you can have from your 2 year stint at any B-School. An institute can get as good as its students. It’s this sense of bonding with the college, the oneness of identity that defines you during your education as well as after it. So tomorrow when you will join a B-School, what will you look for ?? Placements (yes they are important), Infrastructure (trust me IM-NU will defeat any institute in India there,, what else do you expect,, we have the biggest and bestest fields in the country, and an “inhouse” natural lake as well ), Faculty ( we draw them from the industry and academia alike)?? Do look out for the kind of people you are with, your batch, your peers, your alumn:lookroun:i!! Every batch has a flavor . These vary too. But certain strains are dominant. So you had this “Biggest Batch in the History of IM-NU” in 2004, the “Quizzing Czars” of 2005, the “dedicated but naughty” batch of 2006 and now we have this “maximum work ex” batch of 2007. It’s not about when these batches passed. Trust me one goes, the other comes, it’s a never ending circle. Its about what they added to the institute, what they symbolized!! I have 4 names written on the inside of my cupboard. I don’t know them. I don’t know their faces. But I know that the very chair I am sitting on and typing all this for you, the unknown faces, was once used by a person I will never know or maybe meet. But I do know that every place has a legacy, that common bonds, however invisible they are, bind people together. So you have our hostel warden, telling girls that they resemble someone from 2001 batch, that every time a girl laughs she is reminded of someone in 2004 batch,, that each time a new batch enters, the last flavor lingers on!! As all of you would realize history teaches us many things and legacies must be preserved. In short the NIM alumni link will bond us for ever. But as I would leave this campus in 8 months , I have already started wondering, will someone be as affected by those 4 names as I was? What if I add mine there? But I do know that any alumni and a prospective one like me would have his or her share of insecurities! “Even this shall pass away” | | | | | The Following 9 Users Say Thank You to kaptivate For This Useful Post:

hey kaptivate , thy senior, nice piece of writing. But alas, that's just ONE side of the coin. When you share the happy part of it with others, then why not share the adventurous part too?
hey junta, including facchas and seniors, just have a look at this one. Someone has wrote on the ongoing adventures. nirma blog | | | | | The Following 3 Users Say NO Thank You to captivated For This Un-useful Post:

Someone has wrote on the ongoing adventures. nirma blog | Dear captivated, it's good to know that you realize there are two sides of a coin. A glass can be seen half full or half empty, it's depends on the way a person looks at it. The adventurous part about which you are talking about is all about looking at it negatively. General tendency of any human being is to always pick up negative points of any issue and make ho-halla about it. I hope you pick up some positive sides of those adventures and participate positively on this thread. Joining the forum, taking up a similar ID like kaptivate just for the sake of posting a blog URL which too is "anonymous" is not how discussions at PG go on. B school discussion section is only for current B schoolers, so kindly PM me your identity before posting anything for/against life @ Nirma.

| The Multi Hued Monsoons -
08-08-2007, 08:27 PM
Hi JingBangLot, “For oft when on my couch I lie In vacant or in pensive mood They flash upon that inward eye Which is the bliss of solitutde And then my heart with pleasure fills And dances with the daffodils!!” It’s been raining since last night in campus. There’s water everywhere, in the lanes, on the main institute road, in the hostel!! No I have never stayed in a hill station. But god has been kind to me. He gave me IM-NU. As I look out of my balcony, there’s a hazy blue mist on the horizon. There’s construction going on next to the hostel. The new mess is getting its final touch you see. Ahmadbad is a nice place. The electricity is always there . So when the voltage fluctuates each time there’s a clap of thunder in the skies, I am reminded of my home town. Had this much rain happened there, the electricity would have been missing for days together. However the purpose of this post is not to talk about this!! So it has been raining!! People say monsoons are blue….I don’t agree , I will say monsoons are red, yellow, pink, maroon, grey , black….trust me if you come to campus during monsoons ,, you will realize that the sheer colors of the various umbrellas would remind you of gardens blossoming with a variety of flowers. Bad analogy!!!hehe IM-NU is home to 250+ MBA students. But its also home to various “creatures of the forest” (got the phrase from Harry Porter,,I absolutely adore JK Rowling). So you have birds of so many kinds that it humbles you to see the sheer creation of god. Besides this I managed to see a big frog yesterday. I mean real big. My friend shouted seeing it and I jumped . Well Mr. Frog got so scared away that he soon disappeared in the bushes close by. We have snakes too . Once a small one was found on the third floor of the boy’s hostel. We regularly spot them in the campus. You see with a natural lake on campus, what else can you expect. The monkeys don’t disturb us. They come once in a while. They mostly stay near the lake. The pigeons do make their presence felt. They absolutely adore flying in the hostel lobbies. There is one particular one who sits on my balcony every morning. It has a peculiar black mark on its neck. The trees talk a lot . The constant “zzzzzz” greets us as we step out into the campus. Lush green trees soaked with water!! They say Kerala is god’s own land. Well IM-NU is equally blessed !!! | | | | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to kaptivate For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
