Hello all,
I will be joining Bm course this june
Have couple of queries..
Does Xl campus have a swimming pool? ( weird query tho)
I read on couple of blogs by XLRI students..
They said XL students also do a annual play kinda thing?
Please post about that
Also please post about MAXi fair?
My hobbies are painting, dramatics, swimming.. so was just inquisitive about above questions...

XLRI - Beautiful campus. Decent ratio of gender; naturally the PMIR with a more healthy one!
Except for the TATA areas, the rest of the city is a mess! Reminds me of Gujarat especially the old parts of the gujarati cities
Had a two day "holiday" as classes started only today. Went to the market area then to buy some basic commodities. Here in J'pur, there is no concept of meter in autos; it's all between you and the 'ric owner. So it all depends on ur "negotiating" skills; which in just a short period of 2 days showed how good negotiation skills we had! Most of the time we just went along with what the ric owner demands. Ye IT wale na, paise ki value nahi jante
Had a lot of chat in the city; at rates just around 5 bucks each dish! I love J'pur!!
In pune, I thought the city transportation sucks; what to do with the rickety buses and noisy ric's! Here in J'pur its even worse! There is NO city transportation; maybe there might be one; but haven't seen one in the last two days :eh:
Either way, I never felt more desperate for my Pulsar :( My roomie better sends it here by this weekend!
Had a first "serious" class session today; Descriptive Statistics!!! It was all greek to me Everything went overhead! Bah! Who cares! I got a seat next to a cute chick :lookroun:

XLRI in global ethics network
OUR CORRESPONDENT Jamshedpur, April 8: XLRI has set a record of sorts by becoming the first B-school in India to become part of a UN global initiative promoting corporate social responsibility, values and ethics. The business school is now a signatory to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), which provide an engagement framework for academic institutions to advance corporate social responsibility by incorporating universal values into curricula and research. PRME is a part of Global Compact, a framework for organisations committed to do business by safeguarding human rights, labour and environment, and by being anti-corrupt. “PRME is a UN-backed global initiative developed to promote corporate responsibility and sustainability in business education. It has been endorsed by more than 100 business schools and universities around the world. It is a proud privilege that XLRI is the first and the only Indian B-school to be part of this global conglomerate,” said Father E. Abraham, the director of XLRI. The agreement between XLRI and the UN was signed in Geneva last year. “They (the UN) were in the process of signing similar deals with other international B-schools. The announcement was made on Monday,” said a XLRI official. The coming days would see XLRI incorporate core values of the UN Global Compact programme in its activities and curriculum. Raguram said: “Not only management education institutions but major companies are also moving towards this programme with the need for managers who can understand core values such as corporate social responsibility and corporate environmental responsibility. There is a dearth of such management graduates and UN has taken this initiative to incorporate values and ethics in business education.” Some of the leading multinationals that have incorporated PRME into their framework are GE and Suzlon. The B-school would now start moulding its vision and mission on the lines of PRME, introducing subjects and co-related activities based on its principles. “We will facilitate and support dialogue and debate among educators, businesses, governments, consumers, media, civil society and other interested groups and stakeholders on critical issues related to global social responsibility and sustainability,” added Abraham.

Hi Seniors!
I m Tushar Walwadikar. Joining PMIR Batch 2010. Had a small query in my mind. Have any of our seniors done a video or a documentary on student life in Xl. The reason I ask this is because I ve explored on google but failed to see ny such videos. One more reason is because IIMs (actually the student associations at IIMs) are sending forth a CD with a video of Life at IIMs . Saw one of IIMK yesterday.
My point is that can the students association think 'bout this and try to send a video or post the same on youtube so prospective students and new joinees , and their families get a glimpse of Life at Xl.
This will help in further nurturing our brand and also create an euphoria about Xl....
What do u guys think??

Hullo!
As for videos, I exactly don't have links to anything specific, but am pretty sure many of my batchmates and seniors would have links to videos in their orkut profiles. Check out this group XLRI Orkut Community, do go through the videos of the members, they would definitely have links to videos in their video album section
As for info about life@XL, comme on!!! XL has one of the most healthy and active lifestyle if not the best among all B-schools. Listen to the lyrics of the XL songs ( google for them, you'll get it, if not get back here, I'll make sure you get it), they are actually true and about what happens here
Need I say more; wait for the one odd month left, and then experience Life@XL
Cheers,
Ninja
