Hi guys,
People who have calls from K must surely have this uppermost on their minds - just how good is IIMK's placements ? 2 answer this i am posting the
PR handout that we prepared after placements this year. I can vouch for the accuracy of these figures. We've explained how we have calculated the avg salary - we've given 2 figures - taking the best 59 offers irrespective of whom the offr was given (so 2 offers 2 the same guy could be counted) and another figure taking the 59 offers accepted (taking the better offer of each of the 59 people). If u have any doubts about any of these just PM me or post and i'll get back ASAP.
Ravi

Some notable indicators include the quantum of jobs (an average of 1.81 jobs per student), the outstanding lateral placement program (56% of total offers), the impressive escalation in the number of firsttime final placements recruiters on campus (20) and the average salary on offer (Rs. 6.35 lakhs).

Regular recruiters like GE Capital, ICICI Bank, ABN AMRO, Asian Paints, Godrej, TCS, Computer Sciences Corporation and the Aditya Birla Group also returned to campus to draw from the IIMK talent pool. A number of companies were asked to cancel their placement visits, as there were no available students left to interview.
Market-based curricula and strong industry linkages IIM Kozhikode's successful placements record reflects its market-based curricula and its constant strengthening of industry linkages over the years. Industry interaction extends to the classroom where a number of electives in the second year are conducted by leading
companies. Courses by Wipro (Software Project Management), TCS (Systems Concepts) and UTI Bank (Equity Research and Capital Markets) as well as courses on branding and B2B marketing by top industry consultants are complemented by courses from IIMK faculty who are at the forefront of academic research and consulting. Apart from an industry guest lecture series that runs through the year, IIMK also hosts top leaders from corporate India in its annual management seminar "Horizons" and this year's inaugural Brand Seminar.
The lateral placement programme, Strong recruiter relationships and an outstanding graduating batch have also led to the resounding success of IIMK's lateral recruitment process this year. Commencing in October and running till the regular Final Placement process in February, the laterals programme was a rolling placement process that allowed firms and students with significant work experience more flexibility in recruitment. Since the graduating batch has an average of 34 months of work experience, a number of firms - especially top IT firms - were enthusiastic about offering lateral-entry roles to them.
The Class of 2004 IIM Kozhikode has constantly sought to attract a diverse and eclectic student community from myriad academic, professional and cultural backgrounds, as it believes that this diversity enriches peer learning as well as classroom and group discussion. The Class of 2004 includes a number of engineers, commerce and arts graduates, chartered accountants and an architect. They come from a variety of industries including software, banking, energy, HRconsulting, engineering, accountancy and others. 25% of the batch has international work
