IIM Final Placement Figures : To Reveal Or Not To Reveal Is The Question

there is/can be a much simpler reason why salaries where not disclosed by B/L. Almost all companies have revised their salaries upwards this year by atleast 30%. Consequently, the comfortable zone of 8-10 lakhs annual doestic salary which existed last year is clearly not there any more...which is scaring everyone in the game

Instis can really miscalculate their averages if they fail to spot the trend where salaries are going... and this miscalculation will put them under a spot of bother atleast for this year's applications/aspirants and what not; nevermind all the media coverage. that's the reason why you might have seen some reports suggesting 1x+ lakhs annual instead of some solid well-grounded (or adjuested ) figure. The ballparks, my friends, have just become statdiums and no one knows where the parking is

That is the reason i am betting on..might be that we've had a spurt of altruism or sensibility injected into our collective B-senses. What i am betting on is much simpler...no one knows where the hell is the ballpark anyway.

Are you saying that the instis in question don't know the exact/near-exact salaries? Strange!! Am I missing something here?

I don't know how this thing works....but....if not knowing the exact salaries is a reason that 2 IIMs chose to conceal figures, one should congratulate the 2 exceptional IIMs- IIM-B and IIM-L - for anticipating that salaries are gonna go beyond the usual range ....( they have "apparently" made the decision of "not-divulging-salaries", before the placements kicked in!)

What I am now scared of, is that potential IIM graduates may refuse admits from IIMB and IIML to go to other institutes, just because they reveal 'spinned' salary figures, no matter how small they actually are. After all, it is just the transparency that counts for aspirants, not the caliber, right?

14.17, eh! nice !! very nice did see the report. And yes, a 44% jump is very encouraging to see. Precisely the point that i made in an earlier post...a year back, everybody was between 8 & 10. This year, no one knows You folks at 14, WIMWI at 13.5 +, XL @ 12.5+ ..its too dicey to call the final averages..and thats why everyone is playing safe ! Some have decided not to publish, while others are following a salary band figure
