Greetings from the Indian School of Business (ISB)!

Net Impact is a network of MBAs, graduate students and professionals committed to using the power of business to improve the world. With more than 120 student and professional chapters on 4 continents in 75 cities and 80 graduate schools, Net Impact is one of the most innovative and influential networks in existence today. The mission of Net Impact at ISB - the first chapter in Asia - is to foster a sense of lasting social responsibility and to inspire ISB student’s interest in applying business skills towards positive social impact.

Today, although the business case for social responsibility has been gaining ground in India, much needs to be done to raise the imperative for corporate India to take up wider social responsibilities and to play leadership role in the establishment. However, the multitude of social, economic and environmental challenges that face India today are too complex and interdependent for private sector, government and civic organizations to effectively solve them all alone. In a country where majority of the population lives below poverty line and has little or no access to basic public services, there is a need for increased adoption and much wider alliance for socio-economic development.

Joining Hands -A Social Responsibility Conclave - aims to provide a platform to bridge and share these challenges and opportunities more widely with business leaders, social entrepreneurs, national policy makers, civic organizations and academicians. The conclave will bring outstanding leaders from across sectors to inspire and educate the audience on the emerging roles in building socio-economic prosperity, and to assist in their journey to create a successful, measurable and sustainable social impact. The day long event will take place on November 11th, 2006 at the ISB.
