This is the usual range of WL clearance. Last to last year, WL 45 was the last one. Last year, it was around 100 due to obc thing. That is not a very good indicator though. Picture becomes much clearer once 1st WL is out. So the best thing is to wait and watch till then.

I have got thru DLM program of IIT D 2008-10. I have a few querries.


1) What was the highest package bagged by the fresher in the class of 2008 (i am a fresher). If u dont know the exact data then tell the highest amongst the ones u know.

2) What do companies consider for summer internship b coz even the full first year is not over by the time summer placements start. Will being a fresher be a disadvantage there?

3) Have read in a post about too much of guitar playing in the hostel resulting in many "broken strings". Does IIT Delhi have some optional music training facility available for interested people? or we wil have to manage on our own?

Congrats on getting through..
I can't disclose the exact figures here but i'm a fresher and all of us have got very good packages and profiles. For summers, this won't be a factor at all. I got through the 1st company i sat for and this is true for most of the freshers. Companies prefer freshers in many cases and are looking for your enthusiasm and willingness to learn. So no worries there
and for the guitar part, there is a music room in every hostel where you get professionals coming in to teach you. Join the music club and so many countless others if you want to go a step beyond. ATB!

Hostel is not compulsory but most of the localites do take it. Class timings can vary and you can't rule out evenings( some profs love to teach). Usually, they should be around 8 to 5. Hostel is more of a convenience than necessity but once you are here in IIT, there are so many things you will see and want to do, i will suggest taking a hostel.

Usually Saturdays are reserved for events. Most saturdays are covered with one of the following.

1) Rostrums
2) Inter Batch Sports
3) Club Events (Marketing/Finance/Strategy/IT etc)
4) Intra Batch Trips
5) Annual events(Teachers Day/Alumni Interactions etc)
6) Guest Lectures

If none of these happen, then usually time is spent doing the work that you have accumulated during the week .

AFA Holidays go, all government holidays are holidays. They will be mentioned at the beginning of the sem. That is apart from the mid sem break etc. Check the semester schedule from :::Indian Institute of Technology Delhi :::

and if it is a twin sharing room , are room partners decided by students or dean only ???

What are chances of getting single accomodation ?

They depend on luck. If you and someone you wish to be room partner with

However, at the time of entering your hostel for the first time, if you are alone, you could get anyone as your room partner. Ideally don't have a batchmate as your roomie, you will get to spend enough time with them, interact with as many kinds(B. Tech, M. Tech, MBA, Ph. D etc.) of people as possible. [/quote]

Depends on the hostel you are allotted. Chances are 30-70. 30-single.
