This issue about mobility and stuff without bike has been raised before, though I'm yet to meet a single person who has rued this fact about vehicle restriction. Campus is the perfect place for long walks and moreover the things here keep students busy enough to do without life's little luxuries. And everyone gets so involved in life within IIT, you don't miss anything else much. However, the best way to learn this truth is by experiencing it.

i got cleared in dms. The average package is really awesome. i mean its better than many of the reputed collgs. but me being a fresher has this question. can u tell me abt the packages of freshers in dms. i am already getting a package of 7 lacs. so i am confused abt joining dms..

A lot of people who are here were getting handsome salaries like you have mentioned. Freshers are getting all sorts of options in their profiles and that should be the judging criteria than mere package. It is hovering around 10 for current batch. Also, when you consider the usual increase that we are getting, you can calculate yours in 2 years from now.

I am WL 11, however i am told there are fair chances of my converting the call, and i plan to join if it does...i would like to know if there are bulk laptop deals at the start of the session, and if there is, what brand do ppl generally buy and how much discount (%age) can we get?
I am planning to buy a lappy but wud wait if the discount if a modest sum

Business suits are required only for special occasions. You won't need them very much. Single/Shared room initially depends on the hostel you get. However, in 2nd year, its always a single room.

Welcome to DMS dude..
Bulk laptop deals are negotiated by students themselves and you can start the process once you all get to know each other through yahoogroups and all. People in our batch got very generous discounts on HP. I will suggest waiting for some time and buying it in bulk.
