Life @ DMS,IIT-Delhi.
I am a first year student of MBA at DMS, IIT-D.
Life moves very smoothly here and its a pleasure for me to be in this great institute. We have some of the best faculty here. It feels great to be taught by Prof. Vinayshil Gautam, Prof. P K Jain, Prof S K Jain, Prof. D K Banwet, who are giants in their field, and each of them have a distinct but equally effective methodology to teach. I am in the second semester only, hence I have not mentioned some of the equally distinguished names who are going to teach us in the third semester. We have guest leactures from Prof. Vinay Bharat Ram (MD, DCM Ltd), Prof. M. Y. Khan(Head, Department of Financial Stdies, DU),Prof. Prafulla Padhi(Founder CEO of GGLLC) and we regularly interact with CEOs, MDs and Partners of many internationally acclaimed firms.
We are not only pampered here with excellent infrastructural facilities difficult to find in many b-schools. What adds to it is the subsidizing of our education by GOI which leads to very low fees. We have access of many resources which are almost beyond the reach of many institutes in this country.
The academic pressure follows a sinusoidal wave pattern. The study pressure increases tremendously a week or two before minors and majors, and then eases. However, most of the students fill the gap by doing live projects and part-time assignments.
Please email me at <snip> for any queries.

@acumen,
Yes, he is the same "Prof. P K Jain". Prof. M Y Khan, who is also a co-author of the famous "Khan & Jain book", also visit our campus sometimes for guest lectures.
@Anand,
Honestly, I logged in and didn't find any "Edit" button anywhere. It seems I do not have privileges to edit my post, so I request you to do the same as you seem to have the "Expert" level of moderation privileges.
Thanks in advance.

When Govardhan came visting……..
The best part of being in an IIT is that you are right in the midst of an academic hub which serves as a platform to interact with eminent personalities from different walks of life-political,industrial and Media.But what if you find yourself interacting with an ecletic gathering of the shooting stars of today-You would find no words to express yourself and that is exactly what happened on January 20th at IIT Delhi.
This is the day when Gordon Brown(Or Govardhan as he is known by UK settled Indians) came visiting to have a discussion on India-UK entrepreneurship.And he was accompanied by Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath and Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal.And at the centre stage was a contingent of British and Indian Entrepreneurs-the icing on the cake was the presence of the Virgin Group Billionaire-Hold your breath-Richard Branson.
And among the ensemble of prominent persona were CMD Bharti Sunil Bharti Mittal ,Wipro Technologies ex-CEO Vivek Paul,Beer Baron Karan Billimoria and Jet Chairman Naresh Goyal.The event was hosted by Prannoy Roy,renowned media figure.
Gordon Brown spoke on entrepreneurship in the UK and India.He stressed on the importance of Angel networks that would provide venture capital to youth.
Mr Kapil Sibal added that India and Britain could build on an empire of ideas which was the need of the 21st century.The entire session was captivating and enriching as many insights were shared by different enrepreneurs as they talked about their success stories,education,their ventures,risk taking and encouraged all students present to make use of the huge opportunity presented to them in terms of being a part of the IIT fraternity.In Prannoy Roy’s words”We have a billion dollars on stage and a future billion dollars sitting in front of the stage”.
Among the personalities present in the audience were Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin,BCG India Chairman Arun Maira and Caparo Group founder Lord Swaraj Paul.I was one of the few lucky people who got a chance to interact face to face with Arun Sarin and Lord Swaraj Paul.What struck me was that both of them were such down to earth people.
The 5 minutes I spent talking to them were perhaps one of the most inspring moments of my life. Lord Swaraj Paul urged us to “be the best in whatever you do and to love what you do.”Mr Sarin had one piece of advice:”when in doubt….dont listen to what your head or what your heart tells you…listen to your gut feeling”
I shall treasure these words and the autographs I took…….this is perhaps one of the fondest memories of DMS that I shall cherish.

Life at DMS
My life at DMS has been with various ups and downs but it is one of the most comprehensive packages we find in the India
ØLoads of Fun
ØExcellent faculty ( In fact we have an amazing faculty)
And many more
But what stands this college out is the control you have on your life.
Here you drive the learning speed. With each sem lasting 6 months , you can chew on each subject learning everything in detail.
Also it gives time to you to exploit this best time of your career.
Sitting in the biggest technology hub of the country, and sharing hostel with the best technology guys , we have an opportunity to even start a technology company as the likes of Apple.
Also the course here is designed keeping in mind not the top 10 B schools of India, but we have faculty who chalked the course of top 10 b school of the world ( am talking about the likes of Harvard, Wharton and Stanford). This course gives you time tgh so develop your thinking process and decide where you wish your life to head. Also it provides time for you to start your own company and the resources also.
Also with all engineers around you, it gives a unique opportunity for us to learn Finance right from the basics and the faculty takes extra efforts to take you slowly into world on finance.
Resources available at your disposal are endless. Being a part of IIT has been a dream of all engineers and once you come here you will realize why this was the most coveted destination.
Access to high speed hostel lan as well as Shashi(the parantha shop) which adds to the flavor of life here!!
In short you have to be here to see and live it all !!!!!!!!
