As promised earlier, this section is gonna get lot more livelier and graphical. Its only been about 2 and a half months here at VGSOM but we have shared a lot of moments as a family.
These events might not come up in a chronological order but they have all been celebrated by class of 2011. I urge our seniors also to contribute.

VGSOM is blessed to have Prof. A.N. Sadhu as a faculty here. Prof. Sadhu, senior partner at PWC is one of the best I have come across be it as a person or a professor. His level of commitment as a teacher and empathy as a person raise him to a level par human in my eyes. ( my perception of course ). Now it happens that he frequently treats us to coffee in the middle of his class. Imagine we drink coffee sponsored by the professor while doing his class. Further he invited us to dinner at VGSOM. Though we made all the arrangements for it,but lets face it, No Money no party. I am attaching some snaps of the party that he threw for us. I happened to be busy with the camera mostly so I would be absent from these pics.
It was a fun night. It was raining heavily and our plans to party on rooftop of VGSOM could not materialize because of it. Finally we arranged for it in the lobby and had a great time. The dinner was great, the environment was great, people enjoyed and above all we all bonded together with the faculty also.

With Prof. Aradhana Malik

Fun Time

All queued and orderly :P

With Prof Tapan Bagchi and Prof Ashutosh Sarkar

Here I am continuing my posts on Life@ VGSOM

As most of you might be knowing that VGSOM had a tradition of a 6 months industry experience cum internship and hence we are the king of VGSOM for the first semester. Hence the onus was on us to celebrate our own welcome till our seniors come and welcome us officially.
The fresher's party was a fun filled event and we enjoyed amongst ourselves.
Though no titles were formally sent out to us but we still conferred them upon ourselves.
The night was filled with fun and dance. the sweaty ppl in the pics will give an idea as to how much fun we had that day.
There were some performances too from our batchmates and we had a galla time overall.

Anshul: The batch musician ..

Ek pal ka jeena fir to hai jaana.. Well he really lived that moment of joy and danced to his heart's content

The post dancing photo posing. The energy levels were rocket high.

And finally the USP of an IIT. The bicycles which form a part of our lifeline here. Most of our batchmates feel its the part they will miss the most ( Hope you get what I mean. )

The Joy of Giving - 14-10-2009, 10:40 PM

At VGSOM, our energy and fun seeking endeavors are not restricted to the students and faculty. But we also expand our social circle to the underprivileged kids who belong to nearby villages.
Shraddha is an initiative of VGSOM students to help out the underprivileged section of the society. Currently we are trying to achieve monetary self sustainability so that our projects are either funded by our fund raising endeavors or we try to get corporate sponsorships.
Best part of Shraddha is that the whole of VGSOM fraternity is a part of the endeavor and we jointly strive to better the situation of the underprivileged section.

We recently celebrated the Joy of Giving week in a nearby village school at Saluva. We expected to encounter about 40 kids and were prepared to have a fun 2-3 hour session with them despite the fact that most of them did not understand Hindi and none of us knew bengali. Still we persevered. The turnout overawed us at first but then we gradually held our own ( managers need to make on spot decisions after all :P ) in the presence of 100 kids.
Kids had a great time and their smiles made our day. They laughed and cherished the moments. I guess the details have been covered by Divyan in his posts, and I will not bore you with those. ( Though I seriously feel its a boring topic and everyone must contribute back to the society in whatever way one can. Its not the corporate responsibility but our social responsibility and addresses the core values of our nation ).

So I will here seize to give a written account and leave you with the pics. Am not there yet again :( . Busy taking pics and arranging for the food packets

All of us who were here for DP vacations went along to spread joy. You can see us there. Only pic of the day in which I am present

We distributed sweets to kids.

The girl was dancing and other kids were enjoying. They were shy at first but gradually opened up to us.

We were happy to have spread joy.

The joy of giving is not merely a hypothetical concept. One really feels a sense of satisfaction and mental peace to know that he contribute to welfare of someone else and it really elicits a joy of living within you
