At VGSOM, our energy and fun seeking endeavors are not restricted to the students and faculty. But we also expand our social circle to the underprivileged kids who belong to nearby villages.
Shraddha is an initiative of VGSOM students to help out the underprivileged section of the society. Currently we are trying to achieve monetary self sustainability so that our projects are either funded by our fund raising endeavors or we try to get corporate sponsorships.
Best part of Shraddha is that the whole of VGSOM fraternity is a part of the endeavor and we jointly strive to better the situation of the underprivileged section.
We recently celebrated the Joy of Giving week in a nearby village school at Saluva. We expected to encounter about 40 kids and were prepared to have a fun 2-3 hour session with them despite the fact that most of them did not understand Hindi and none of us knew bengali. Still we persevered. The turnout overawed us at first but then we gradually held our own ( managers need to make on spot decisions after all :P ) in the presence of 100 kids.
Kids had a great time and their smiles made our day. They laughed and cherished the moments. I guess the details have been covered by Divyan in his posts, and I will not bore you with those. ( Though I seriously feel its a boring topic and everyone must contribute back to the society in whatever way one can. Its not the corporate responsibility but our social responsibility and addresses the core values of our nation ).
So I will here seize to give a written account and leave you with the pics. Am not there yet again :( . Busy taking pics and arranging for the food packets

All of us who were here for DP vacations went along to spread joy. You can see us there. Only pic of the day in which I am present
We distributed sweets to kids.

The girl was dancing

and other kids were enjoying. They were shy at first but gradually opened up to us.
We were happy to have spread joy.
The joy of giving is not merely a hypothetical concept. One really feels a sense of satisfaction and mental peace to know that he contribute to welfare of someone else and it really elicits a joy of living within you
