Well finally….
@ ximb….omg!! What??? Its already 15 days since the session begun…. Time has really flown away…. Seems like only yesterday I joined the hostel….& Woke up at 5 am on a rainy morning to enjoy the scenic beauty of morning @ ximb!!!!
And now the difference!!!! I enjoy the scenic beauty at 5 am..and then go off to sleep….. just to wake up for class at 9 am…. But I must Thank god!!! And thanks to my block mates who wake me up (infact we wake up each other) every morning so that none gets late( first lesson learnt under group activities)…that I haven’t been late for my class,,, yet !!!….ok I wont divert from the topic….!!!!
Yeah!!! Had our orientation on 20th and 21st after getting registration done and being given a long list of do’s , don’ts and regulations and best wishes by deans, profs and a lot more ppl… After hearing the passing criteria I was wondering, if it is going to be a 2 yr stay only or I ll need a bank loan for few more yrs…..and the orientation prg!!!! Fantabulous,!!!!,, within 2 days we got to know a lot abt our batchmates( and the seniors were equally helpful in facilitating the Interactions afterwards!!!!!) It was seriously a fun filled learning process… AND the best lesson I learnt was “ Your enthusiasm is just like your smile,, its infectious ,,contagious !!! Your dedication and zeal can put others to work as well, with a passion in them !!!”…okie enough of philosophies….
And then the classes commenced……phew…. 7 new subjects abt which I had no prior idea… and the pressure of being surrounded by people who are so damn competitive from the word “go”!!!!! but that is the environment here…. Dissecting cases, questioning everything and then finding solutions to them,, discussing assignments, learning theory abt everything and then putting the theory into practice….. For the first time I feel,, what m learning has got some relevance in real life…learning wid a purpose!!! And that too, from the faculty who have set milestones in their fields….studies were never so much fun and rigorous!!!
And Then the block party….. which started at 11 pm and went till 5 am…… rock music,, pop,, bhangra , awesome food….celebrated with newly formed friends but wid whom u feel as if u r @ home…..that is the SPIRIT of XIMB….. no-one in Ximb Family feels left out….and then we woke up again at 8 am for class… never knew that we have so much of potential to stretch ourselves….and be so adaptive…
Now,,, almost each night we have society meetings ,, quizzes of diff committees. Group discussions( y every group think their project is most important ,,ll remain a mystery to me)… then we study,,, play badminton(at the weirdest hours of day/night),, take walks,, tease each others,,, celebrate bdays(in the most awesome manner)……
cant believe we still have just 24 hrs every day,,,And we do so much in those 24 hrs,, its worth a pat on our back..….. But there is lot more to do…. Lot more to learn…its just a beginning!! Beginning of a new phase of our lives,, which ll shape our future,, which reminds us and makes us introspect our past…and which makes us realise the worth of and live our present to the fullest ,making us dream more,,, to reach for the sky!!!! And gives us a platform for it….assuring us that even sky is within our limits……
well I can continue the saga….. this love story !!! of me( and many more like me,, in love with this heaven known as XIMB),,but now got to finish my financial accounting ka assignment…. So rest of updates later…me signing off
regards
aditya

Adding a little more strikes to the pretty picture Aditya has painted for you all... I feel this irresistible urge to call my posts-Back to School series. A, the school part is highly applicable to even the PG course for which we mature people enrolled and B Its sounds way cool g: Back To School-1 I just have come back from a presentation by our Media and PR cell. After a little detour to the mess and witnessing a regular midnight bday bumps session, I am sitting here with m laptop (and a fantastic LAN )to put a script to this adrenalin rush The past two weeks can be best described as being on the Bombay metro station, you keep on being carried away by the crowd-all the time. You are here and then there. Before you can fold your bed sheets it’s time to nap again. The best difference houh is the fact that all this rushing has been one incredible stimulus. The academic sessions are only one part of this high quotient. I am not a geek and this is precisely why the acads appealed to me. I am already into working on presentations ranging from one bordering to psychology to analysis of a company. What a life. *Not to be over looked is the bunch of highly experienced faculty who actually look forward to our naive and hyper-active queries and anything and everything If the days (and the evenings and a little parts of night)are taken over by laptop wielding ,papers shielding activities..The rest is for the existing societies. Now what’s a school without societies and sororities? The professional words are committees and blocks. So far I have been presented the major committees on any school and few fun acts by the interest groups. Me and few other enthusiastic mates had whale of a time at the marketing groups ‘skirmish’ activities ..what can be more fun than trying to connect waterfall to Liril or Sony to atomic smasher guns? Ah the time reads sometime after 1,time for me have some coffee and get back to Mr.Chris Argyris, rest of you guys hold on to the next episode of Fera’s Adventures at X My doctor says that I have a malformed public-duty gland and a natural deficiency in moral fibre and that I am therefore excused from saving universes. I know I took a little long to post here but believe me I am not used to this kind of life Since Adi and Fera have already described about this beautiful campus I will refrain from writing a big post. It’s not even a month and I am already getting an awesome feeling. It starts from the day I landed in this campus and I knew that I belonged here. To give a snapshot of life at jhabier I would like to start with the interaction session with our seniors and looking back now it was much more fun than we thought it was. Then classes started in Full swing and we met some of the brightest faculty in this country, in spite of sleeping at around 4:30 in the morning every day I just couldn’t manage to sleep in the 9 AM class. Then came the much awaited block parties and soon we forgot all the rigour. Soon after that all the assignments and quizzes came our way. We had three quizzes in last 3 days and I would seriously refrain from disclosing by binary scores we have loads of activities bungled up for the weekend including assignments and presentations on Monday followed by quizzes. The preps for the cultural activities have also started in full swing. I am on one hell of a ride here More updates later. | | | | | The Following 10 Users Say Thank You to RISING For This Useful Post: | | | | | |

Hello people..
Finally, PG's working on campus for more than 5 minutes.
One thing that is obvious: Sleep is a luxury. Been days since I slept properly. Well, what the heck. I have never been doing so many things at once before. Loads of fun, even bigger load of assignments. One thing everyone else missed out on and the best part: JLTs (well, been to only one till date). I have never seen so many people dance like mad for hours together. .
Will stop at that. More spam in the coming days.

Puys !
This is to inform the PG Junta that all the PG members are very much alive and rocking XIMB
Most of the core committees have given their presentations at the stroke of midnite... and the applicants have been interviewed at equally unearthly hours...
Finally the results are out and the shadow committees are in place..
And i take immense pride in informing the world that the Puys in PGP1 have made it to almost all the core committees..
Zippo and Chak De both have made it to the PlaceCom Shadow committee..
Zippo also has the honour of being the Class Representative(CR) of Section A (..which is my section..)...
and by the virtue of which he keeps on mock threatening me that he will levy fines on me for all the silly reasons that come to his mind ..
Fera has made it to the very sought after Alumni Shadow Committee..
More updates abt the campus and the life in past 1 month to follow soon !

time to wait for the surprise to happen...)

into his "o podu" dance - only god knows what is in store for us for tonight.....Rising has been conducting bhangra

Having completed one month in XIMB
Wow! Unbelievable!! It has been more than a month here!!! A month… 30 days..& 30 nights.. of brainstorming, fun, gruelling classes, games, quizzes and surprise quizzes, meetings, presentations.. , movie screenings, alumni talks , cultural events,….. and so on!! Is it really possible that so much has happened in just 1 month…???
Yes, In XIMB it is!!!
As a matter of fact much more has happened!! A new Gymnasium and one more basketball court have assured that the health freaks get enough incentives ( apart from their regular reason of getting attention) to work out and play. The top class sports and health facilities have managed to transform lazy bums like me to sneak in some time in our schedule for showing concern towards our health. and yeah after that devouring on the mess food (based on new mess menu) is another motivation for us…
2 Alumni-talks ranging from topics as diverse as “Equity Research” , “Consultancy” and “Emerging opportunities in Middle East Asia” have given us lot of insight and knowledge in these emerging trends.. and also left us wondering how much time we will take to be so successful , that we are invited to give such talks…. But I am sure, being Ximbian it won’t be a long wait for any of us!!!
Then we had interactions and cultural activities by the seniors as well as juniors batch. It was a delight and proud day when we showcased our talents and got appreciation from both the students and faculty ….And yeah,,, the debate “Fullstop” !! Well all the reasoning, sarcasm, logic , rationality, valour , cheekiness and sharpness came on-stage when the 6 teams, each comprising a pgp1 and a pgp2 student debated whether “Rang de Basanti depicts the value of today’s youth”… last but not the least the debate depicted how much concerned our youth is, devoting almost 2 n half hours arguing and realising the viewpoints involved.
And how can I forget the much awaited block parties and JLTs..
Dancing and having fun till the wee hours in morning and then catching up the morning classes… they have their own charms!!!! :P and the pics during JLTs make u wonder if u r the worst looking person on earth( dont wry,, there is lot of competition)….same goes with birthday treats… what an elegant way of celebrating birthdays... u so much wish ur birthday fell on 30th feb…
Oh god…. Notice out…our midterms are preponed …. SERIOUSLY… it happens in XIMB..and much more too… will be back with updates abt the ”more” soon.. till then…. Have fun!!!
Regards

So here I am...8:57 in the morning...dishevelled hair..drowsy eyes...pepsodent foam whipped up and down by the head of my brush with a class to go at 9:15 reflecting on the past month at XIMB...What is it that made my month so exciting...more importantly why XIMB?what is it about the institute?Surely it cannot only be the amazing hostel life..maybe it is really the guys shaking me awake for those morning classes. Is it the eminence of the faculty? Maybe it is the assurance in their eyes....Surely it is not the mess..but the man at the serving counter..his disarming smile early in the morning or in the dead of the night or his opinion on what the right diet is at that hour....Is it the aura of the Core Student Committees or it is really the pride of actually being part of the one?Or maybe its about those hours at the footer field with them French exchange students..or even at the floodlit tennis courts trying to land those serves a la Sampras....and how about the table-tennis sessions at 4 in the morning? Not to mention the unsuccessful attempts at the playing 'Jordan' against the skillful seniors at the basketball place...or that scintillating pull straight down the throat of that damn fielder in that crunch game of X-Cricket...or maybe its those dreary group assignments punctuated with countless PJs and gossip talk..talking about 'talk' how about the talk on social entrepreneurship from an Harvard Alumni.or that Jaane Tu Jaane Na screening on the eve of the Quantitative Methods quiz...oh did I forget the magnificient seniors and the spectacle they put up at Parichay'08?Our 'Bakra' moment at Sambandh'08?And how about the jamming sessions extending into the wee hours...those fantastic discussions on Knofler,Petrucci..notes flying free, uninhibited, making joyful crests and troughs in the listeners ears..the unmatched feeling..to know that you alone are the master of this musical universe bidding the masses to sway to that adorable Dire Straits tune...Alas!!this reliving of the time past has left me with only 3 minutes to make that dash to the Accounting Lecture ..but write again I will..to wonder once more..to dwell in those moments again..to live that dreamy XIMB life again. | | | | | The Following 10 Users Say Thank You to madhukar For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
