Action at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay -
13-08-2006, 10:53 PM
This thread seems to have become dead ! Let me make another attempt to revive it!
Here, at SJMSOM IIT Bombay, life has become quite busy. The quizzes, assignments, case studies and projects are in full flow. At the same time, we are having tons of Guest lectures from people at influential positions in the industry.
Also, work for the upcoming Finance Continuum on 2nd Sept, the SJMSOM Alumni meet on Aug 26th and our Mega B School Fest - Avenues later in the year, has started in full flow! Thats keeping most of us very busy here.
I havent got a chance to talk about the Guest lectures which I have got to attend here at IIT. Here, I list down a few of them:
1) 24th July (Interaction with SJMSOM students)

WHAT HAPPENED AT ENRON ?
3) 26th July (Interaction with SJMSOM students)

4) 29th July (SJMSOM Lecture Series - Diksha)

So, all in all a LOT OF ACTION in less than 20 days here!
Hope this post pushes the rest to contribute as well.
Regards
Ramesh

Re: IIT B-School 2006-2008 Connect -

Almost a month since I joined VGSOM, but better late than never is my motto!
First off an intro. I am Balasubramanian...Bala to anyone without the patience to go through a 7 syllable name!
Worked for a year, and finally decided on VGSOM after lots of thought between Delhi and Kgp.
First impressions are now fading away into the routine of an MBA...so before I forget them, I guess I should pen down some thoughts.
Firstly, sleep...or the lack thereof. It looks as if nobody sleeps for more than 4-5 hours here. My computer clock reads 4:45 am, and I have a class to attend at 8:30! So I guess I am as guilty as everyone else.
Second...the rooms. I am still amazed. This is actually as big as the one I had at home, which is a good thing, because my natural messiness has not been significantly altered by the MBA! Lots of space, and pretty nifty view of the volleyball court as well!
Third...the food. Outside the mess, the food is awesome, what with great (and cheap) options available everywhere. Inside the mess...hmm...maybe some other day!
Well, that is it for now...perhaps more some other time.
Bala.

Hey guys
I'm an IITB aspirant and would like to ask one query. I have done my graduation from BCA IGNOU and wish to appear JMET 2006 and apply to IIT Bombay. I browsed the site : http://www.gate.iitb.ac.in/JMET06/Pgmelig.do and it is mentioned that the eligibility criteria is :
"First class degree (min.60% aggregate/min. CPI of 6.5/10) in either Engineering (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) or Postgraduate degree in Science."
Now in this sentence it is also stated as "Bachelor's degree or equivalent". Does this mean that I can apply for JMET too ?

Re: Finance Continuum at SJMSOM -

L!VE, the magazine of SJMSOM brings in new facets, perspectives and new insights into the business world. It caters not just to the demands of the Systems professional but also the Operations, Finance, Marketing and HR. There is thus a well rounded view of the managerial world. This is a harbinger of the times, wherein all of us aspire to be not just marketing or finance or operations or HR professionals but well rounded managers equipped to handle the vagaries of corporate life.
The AUGUST Issue of L!VE is attached in this message.
Back issues can be downloaded from:
http://www.som.iitb.ac.in/cgi-bin/st...i/query?id=209
Comments and Feedback of any sort are welcome.
Cheers!
Ramesh
