i believe both instis...ISB and IIM justifies what they offer....

ISB take hard core work ex or some extraordinary individuals ( for example someone doin fine in arts or sports or music)...whereas IIM i believe go for hard core intellectual capabilities...

Getting 1 cr salry is not a big deal for ISB since it has people of 5+ work ex or so which have already some proven potential and get such offers ...but on the other hand companies recruit future potential from iims ..they give salary of 120k $ just on the mere assumption that the guy or a gal can take on the world as they hav taken the studies.....

As for spjain...we should not comment on who they are takin or not takin...even if they recruit high work ex..or IITians...i ask one question ...are we challegeing IITs that their product is not upto the mark and gets undue favour of the brand or r we just questioning the proven track record of guys who hav done welll in past...

Come on guys ....quality shows .....i know sometimes its arbit selection but most of the times its the quality of the individual which pays off.....

Three cheers to india whcih is producing global-local leaders..(managers can be produced anyday by ne one ...even a beggar is a manager he has to manage his day to day activities)........

I just hope people getting high salaries produce more opportunities in India so that more and more people can achieve their feat.....

Why such a case of sour grapes?Especially from a person capable enuf to get into the IIMs.
If one has to refute your argument its easy to say tht IIM CAL has not mangaged to improve on its achievements since 2001. But that would be a very myopic view of things. There is no point comparing one individual to another. What we should brag about is that now payscales given by Indian companies to Indian graduates match those offered at premier US colls.

I think we as students should be happy about the fact that there are more institutes that can deliver.
It is very commendable that an institute that is 5-6 years old is now being compared with the premier institutes in the country. I am sure it will also encourage other institutes and students.
With the reservation issue coming up again its gd to c we have options.

Since ISB is doing some heavy marketing all over the planet, Its imperative that someone point out the other side of the story which is what this forum is for

ISB is still the only Bschool in the world where the average salary is less than the total money spent on the degree

Other than that I must say for those who dont get lucky in the CAT and can afford it, there is no better option than ISB because already its on par with ABC in reputation

First year of PGPX will be interesting to see though

Have a coupla queries wrt the placements :-

1) Of a batch of 345 guys number of overseas placements is < 40. Now has the %age of overseas placements been increasing every year coz the current %age of arnd 10 is no doubt good, but for a B-school having majority work ex junta thats gotta be higher !!

2) How many guys have been able to move across functions ?? IMO ISB consists of majorly IT work ex junta and as quoted in the placement report 41% of the job offers were from IT consulting. There shud be more IT non-consulting job offers in there so looks like majority of the offers were from IT. I am keen to see how many guys were able to leverage their IT worx ex and get into lateral positions in other business functions coz thats what I intend to do after my MBA

Kindly check your facts before making such statements. Most US colls have an average salary that is less than the expense of the program. Don't take my word for it check up on sites like businessweek and USnews. Some of the top colls estimate the total cost of the 2 yr program to be around including living costs to be around $130k. Yet their avg sals are around $100k.
Similarly ISB's 15 lakhs include many things like food, accomodation etc. And it is a 1 yr program so at the end of 2 yrs ur cost shld be

fees- 1st yr salary.

As far as ISB students being rejects from CAT, its nice to see them doing just as well. For all u know maybe they were "lucky" not to get selected in the CAT.

Just take the fees... The expenses are something you spend every year anyways

ISB fees is 13 Lakhs

A reasonable US MBA tuition is around 60-70K... Average Salary is around 90-100K for even the lower ranked ones... Again this is my mathematical response to the mathematical marketing

What is the sal of a 2 yr exp guy on an avg in ISB??? (considering the fact that, as it is said below, those who don't get through CAT, try ISB)

How much does the repute of ISB help the guy say 5 years down the line? I know an IIM or top B School tag helps you throughout your life.

Dude like I said check ur facts. except for the top 7-8 colls no one gives u 100k sal. I know cause I ws admitted to 2 US colls. They were in the top 20 and had avg sals of 80k
