Retail : the BIMTECH way - 06-03-2006, 11:11 AM

Hello Friends,

started with lots of smiles on each and every body face with a wowin the end.

Friends i Am Pulkit Saraf Student PGDRMM 05-06, Bimtech. in hte initial mail i do not want you to get bombarded with the info of the insti as i would like all of us come together and develop a network which is retail savvy and eat, drink and sleep retail. when we talk about retail as a carrer option for the fresh blood it is always a very difficult task for some and for some it is a cake walk. the same was the case with me as when i joined this course i had already completed my MBA in Mkt and then joining a unknown course like retail. but i am not all regreating my decision.

this thread will not anly help you getting info about the course or the college but eill also keep you in touch with the retail updaters. this is a small step taken by us to make your decision a bit easier.

so enjoy your life with lots and lots of smile.

Pulkit Saraf

Hai Saraf,

I'm also interested in Retail Operations. Pour in your thoughts about it and say more about your curriculum of the course.

hi Mr XYZ.

Birla Institute of Mangement Technology (BIMTECH) has been the pioneers in offering courses for many new and upcoming sectors in the indian industry and retail mangement is one of them.

The course is called as PGDRMM. Post Graduate Diploma in Retailing and Merchandising Management. till this date 2 batches have been placed successfully with 165% placement. Yes 165% because some students got 2 to 3 jobs at a time and they have to chose which one to join. And the current batch of 53students are doing their Internship, which they got on the campus for all the students. Some of the companies visiting this year for interns are RPG Spencer's, Shoppers Stop, Lifestyle, Ebony, Addidas, THS, Godrej & Boyce, Pyramid, Reliance Infocom, Ritu Wears, Planet Sports, Godrej Agrovet, etc and the batch will be on Placement in hte month of may.

But now there is a good news for the current batch, seeing the current retail senario and in consultation with some of the leading retail organizations, BIMTECH has rolled out MBA in Retail and PGDRMMX (for executives). the first course will be for the students who are interested in doing MBA in retail and the second course will be a PG Diploma course for executives that is students having work Experience.

the life at BIMTECH is fun and the learning hours are not fixed. the couse teaches you each and every aspects of the retail industry. this year in all we are studing 30 main subjets and 5 modules which not only include subjects specifically related to retail field but also related to general mangement, so that our foundations are strong before getting in to the depth of the retail industry.

more over we all know that the industry has started showing its flying colours, which will help you and me to prosper in the near future.

I hope i have satisfied your eager ness to know about the course up to some extent. if any other question do write again.

thank you

pulkit saraf

Re: Retail : the BIMTECH way - 03-04-2006, 10:23 PM

hi rohit,

i am the current batch student of the retail course. the course is very good and the placement scene is also very good. in my previous posts i have already talked about the companies visiting the campus for internship.

teh placemnt % was 165% for the last year. and the average salary was around 2 lacs and the max salary was 3.6 lacs. this year we are expecting a good package from the industry and are expecting the average salary to increase by atleast 50 %. we are hoping for the best.

teh course the faculty the profile offered is good. and as the course is new and the industry is also new it will take another 1 or 2 years to understand teh importance of retail specialised students.

thank you

and would like to get more queries.

pulki
