Hi Sandipan

though not at all concerned regarding the plcmnts.@ IIMs but just wanted to ask whether KPO firms have started visiting IIMs for recruitments especially in Finance(fin. analysis, equity research etc.). firms viz. Inductis,e-value Serve etc. or are they not rich enough yet for shelling out IIM level salaries...

the best example to cite would be me!!...i had 2 years of IT experience before joining IIMK...then i majored in Finance....had an overseas offer from a IT firm, a risk mgmnt offer from a leading bank, a fin consulting role from a leading consulting firm and senior business analyst role in the BFSI line of business of CTS... this should answer ur query i hope..

brother KPOs are the flavour of the season...they are offering realy big bucks...like Adventity, iRevna etc...and the work they do is also really good...

and about ITC....i don know which campus projected the offered salary as 9 point somethng.....IIM Kozhikode always believed in giving true picture....and the truth is across all IIMs the salary is arnd 8.2...and NO they didnt give us any differential...!!!

and again i forgot the name..please pardon my weak memory....but someone was asking about BPO space...yup there are a few people who joined BPO sector...do u want anyones name in particular?

thanku for ur help and advise but this is what i was exactly referring to .....7.5 by CTS is what i would call a low salary as freshers( me one of them) r getting salaries in this range( only 1 or 2 lac less) only just after doing their engineering...so seeing just from the monetary aspect this is not a gud investment.........but them IIM the brand name is enough for life i guess .....

What are you talking about dude ? In my college, and I believe in engineering colleges across the country, CTS has offered 2.11 lac packages to engineering freshers. Your post seems to imply that as a fresher engineer you're getting around 6 lac !

well dunno bout u and ur college man...me in the premeir college called NSIT.....For some facts the highest salary this year 8 lac by Google has been offered to 3-4 students in India and one of them is from my class....then as always theres trilogy with pkg arnd 7 lacs......next comes Microsoft which is arnd 6.....and me missed the bus on these three but got thru a little known startup comp BayPackets offereing still 1 less than MS........So thats what i mean.......well even IITians get high similar salaries...Dunno bout the rest of the RECs or NITs..........

Yes. Other companies do give freshers higher packages. I misinterpreted your post to mean that CTS offers fresher engineers in that range. It doesen't. Yes. Google, MS etc. do make higher offers. Though in very low numbers. And it's not that all IITians get big salaries. Some do. Many go to TCS, Infy, Wipro and others at more earthly packages.

u are comparing the best offers of engg college which are about 20 per college with an offer of 7.5 in iim k which i suppose many will refuse to take and not to mention the diff carrer paths. just cant compare both things
