I dunno if u read the report corectly.. Dint u see Kotak on the list of recruiters.. they offered Private equity roles..

and again wat r u talkin.. the highest payin FMCG AFAIK is P&G n they pays close to 9 lakhs.. ITC across campuses pays around 8.2..

Lowest sal was 5.5 Lakhs.. by an IT firm..

Mods shudnt u think abt banning such crazy ppl frm postin arbit crap.. thr ve been 2 other instances of the same guy postin stupid things abt B school placmnts..

can anyone throw some light on whether there were any specializations in IT by freshers...and some of the profiles they were offered and some approximate salary......because i think this is the grp that gets paid the least.......please correct me if iam wrong.......also do fresher IT engineers( 0 work ex) dare to specialize in something besides IT (or dual specializations including IT as one of them and other may be finance or marketing) and in case they do r they able to stand at par with the finance guys(i.e with commerce,CA bkgrnd)

Some of the fresher IT engineers didn't even bother to pick up a single IT/Systems subject here.. And yes they did stand at par with all others when it came to fin jobs..

well thanx for the info....but i still fail to understand the reason behind leaving 4 years fo BE/Btech and going for some new field like finance.......doesnt it seem too much of a waste or is the engineering helpful in some other way........waise a part of my query still remains unanswered bout the Systems specializations by the freshers and their compensation packages etc vis a vis experienced IT people........

What i have got to know is that one usually get highest paying job in finance. So $Money$ could also be one of the reasons for choosing finance.
@pratset , u know very well that no education goes waste , at sometime or other it helps . So a guy doing mba in finance after engg, might end being a CFO of an engineering company later in his life . And that will surely help him in his work.

the reason people pursue Finance is not always for the big bucks but because of the love for the subject....why engineers generally like finance can be explained in a simple way: it involves a lot of quant, it involves a lot of funda and surely it poses hell lot of challenge to ones intellect...but this doesnt mean the other specialisations are bad....it all depends on where your flair lies....we had people with 5 years of IT experience who cud have easily got thru to any IT consulting company with 12+ lakhs per annum salary choosing finance and settling for somethng less monetarily...at the same time there are people who with 3 years of IT experience have chosen Marketing as their career...so it all boils down to ur own liking...money doesnt play a big role.....believe me...money alone can not act as that big a motivator....

someone was asking about IT and freshers.....yup...freshers also major in Systems...and they do get quite good salaries..for example CTS pays 7.5 lakhs to a fresher...

and about ITC....i don know which campus projected the offered salary as 9 point somethng.....IIM Kozhikode always believed in giving true picture....and the truth is across all IIMs the salary is arnd 8.2...and NO they didnt give us any differential...!!!

and again i forgot the name..please pardon my weak memory....but someone was asking about BPO space...yup there are a few people who joined BPO sector...do u want anyones name in particular?

while TCS did come for recruitment....i cant remember any one accepting TCS as the final accepted offer...

I had a query regarding the lateral placements.If someone has arnd 2 yrs of experience in IT industry and takes up Finance as majors, then is he/she considered for lateral placements?I mean the kind of profile they would get, are they any better than the freshers majoring in finance?
