Different university follow different methods. They are giverned by an overall body. Association of MBA is one very important body which lays down some minimum standard to follow. But anythign over and above those minimum standard is jurisdiction of the university management and policy.
Evaluation method in my university is NOT AT ALL objective. Most of the exams are based on assignments. In whole term we have 3 exams which are theoretical analysis of some case study plus theory. All my life I enjoyed giving exam and flaired in the exam but here things are drastically different. I had to struggle initially which was VERY stressful. This was felt by almost all the students. May be thats MBA for us
Apart from these exams all the work is coursework based. We have to submit assignment which is analysis of some company where you have worked in with the subject perspective you have learned. You will be giving few question and you have to analyse your previous company answering those question and present these information in 2000 words (10 sides of A4 pages). This is why it becomes test of effective writing as well.
The scoring in my university is very unique. They do not publicly announce marks. Every individuals marks are been told to him/her and him/her alone. This is done to prevent the feeling of competitiveness. Then after that it is left with individual value judgement whether or not he/she wants to share his marks.
I think its a very good and effective evaluation system. I can clearly see many benefits. First this privacy of marks impose a feeling of equality. The emphasis is sharing of knowledge without any prejudice.
The assignment clearly gives a picture of HOW exactly you can apply the knowledge gained during your MBA to practical situations.
My course has alot of strtegic focus which i think at times is too much. Of course its good for long run but for immidiate future or short run we will not be using alot of strategy in day to day operations.
May be its worth looking at the structure of the course

The marking is based on credits.
Towards the end of the course we have dissertation. This is a thesis of an in depth analysis of your subject area chosen.... it is indeed one of the MOST important work you undertake among others.
I am thinking to do Total Quality Management in Indian BPO industry. I am right now researching more into the industry and what can be done. This is a mission in itself

. Dissertation is yet to start

. I am right now trying to sort out the contacts and accessto information in BPO companies in India. So using the networks. I dont know if anyone here have any good contacts in BPO industry?
Well....We need to submit a research proposal just like PHd on what we are going to do and how we going to do it.
On the other hand...other interesting module is PMD (Personal and Managerial Development). This is very useful to develope soft interpersonl skills.
Aur kya baaki haal chaal? How is life back home?
