Although Southampton's website claims its department to be among UKs top ten Business Departments
Dikhao pe na jaao apni akal lagaao

Do not go on tall claims made my various universities. Ofcourse they are not lieing but the it depends on what claim they are making. Actually thing is that here there are way too many rankings etc. So yes its highly likely that any business school will be in top ranking or top 10.

Coming to comments on University... well all the three schools are good ones. Thoug i do not know much about aberdeen so i cant say much about that. Southampton is good especially their entrepreneurship program.

I personally dont rate cardiff that well for simple reason that they dont have AMBA and they take freshers in their program. I know how different it would be for a fresher and for the course for freshers to be in the company of people have around 10 years of experience or even more sometimes.

Having said that, i have heard alot of success stories from cardiff and have been told that its a good BSchool.

In my opinion what one should do is that look at the course contant first. Then after that they should look at the QAA ratings for the business department followed by RAE. QAA and RAE are government organisation which ensures quality. Then after that you can give importance to the rankings from Times Good University or Guardian. Ofcourse if your school is in top 100 of FT then its a different thing altogether

HTH

Cheers

wowww... i am sorry it took me rediculously long to come back to this thread. Well .... without wasting much time i must get to the core straight away.

You have a very good background, academic qualification and years of experience which all will be valued by every university.

My suggestion would be that you should concentrate on GMAT and score good marks in GMAT. Then apply to the university in US (Priority 1) then university in UK(Priority 2) and some top universities in other countries.

Why i am telling you this is because in US they give good amount of scholarship depending on your GMAT score. The possibility of scholarship in UK is rather less vis-a-vis US. If you are trying for UK then you should compete for cheuvening scholarship (however you spell it).

Do let me know if you need any specific info.

Regards
Santosh

Also what are the chances of one getting a schol/TA or summin like 'at once ur in ?? More importantly do u get time for anything other than studies ?? is part time legal/ illegaly done by majority ? agian if done (legally / illegaly) do u get time for that without affecting ur studies ?..do reply if u get time !

Well figure of expenses other then tuition fees can depend on place of stay. I sty in oxford and its undoubtedly the most expensive place i feel. Some times it exceeds london too. Clubbing in london can beexpensive... in oxford its little above average but better then london.

Here i am spending every month around 600 pounds. But that is because of my social life.

Ideally you can look for a figure of around 6000 for london/oxford and similar places and around 5000-5500£ for other places. You can of course work out cheaply but it depends on your individual life style.

Even here in oxford we have people who have survived with around 500 or less a month. But then they have many a times failed to socialise and build the network and make friends. If you are here oneof the most importnt skill you should work on is building network.

I thought i will survive without cell phone, laptop, and clubbing. But then i was wrong. Thats not the way things work out always.

Course are demanding and you will see people realy slogging hard. I observed, people work hard and enjoy harder

You can work 20 hours part time. Thats legal. Getting parttime job is daunting. I waslucky to get the job just in my second application without much pain and delay. I applied on 6th of december and had a part time job on 12th.

Vacation time is dead here. At least in oxford. I utilized that time for working and earning some bucks.

well thats pretty much like it. All I can say to be very specific is that the cost will depend on you and of course the place you are staying in. So decide upon that and then compare. Decide which are the places you want to apply to.

NEVER rule US out . Consider it seriously. I would have if I was in your place. For me it was hard because i was coming from three year graduation background.

Do let me know if you need anything else and all the best.
