Last Date: 20th Dec
Extended to 20th Jan...extended to 9th Feb...what for....due to what ever reason....were they not aware of this previously....lack of planning...and management...and then they will teach us how to be globally accepted managers.....then interviews start and and the process goes on and on....results come after 15days (of the last interview) and classes to start in about 30 days when they very well know that if they are taking people with work ex they do require some time to serve the notice period. we cannot leave a company in 20 days with whome we have been working for the last 5 yrs or so...but they search people with ethics....so called corporate ethics...lastly the lists come out and the admission committee is so sure that there would be very few who would leave...the waiting list list is also not out...if they have made the merit then the waiting guys shd also be told with the final list so that atleast the others can carry on with their work....and who are in the waiting can know there rank in the waiting so that they also can plan accordingly....all these things show lack of transparency...lack of lanning....lack of management....and undue pressure on the candidates....just to create the hype....with this kind of procedure i don't think GLIM can go a long way....as far as i am concerned...i have 5 yr of work ex presently working as Astt Manager in a GSK...cat 90percetile....Xth 84%..XIIth 78% &...NIT Electronics & Instru...descent GD good PI...but rejected....i am not bothered about rejection but atleast i should the grounds on which i am rejected....so that i can improve upon them and work hard next time.... | It is a matter of time which will decide Great Lakes' future, dear.... good that u are concerned with ur own performance after showing enough 'concerns' about the admission process.

@FNS
so does this mean that u r going to make the profiles of all the selected students [every single on of them] public... cuz that would be really great. We can all wiegh ourselves with your selected list and justify ourselves.
And do you really stress on your claim that 'There is NO regional bias' ? That's because a lot of deserving candidates were shown the door, just because they were based from chennai. I personally know atleast 7-8 [dont ask me how i knew...you would end up embarassing yourself]
And do you, for a moment, think that admissions of glim were driven by reputation ? Then why in the 1st place did you postpone the application deadline [twice]. Only one reason that comes to my mind : Application never got sold [both hard and soft copies]. So you postponed it once and had to do it again, until the CAT results were out, so that you could cash in more. Now.. is this what you call Reputation. Pardon me sir, i dont think so. I call it Desperation.
and FNS... You still haven't answered my query 1 and 2.
Try not to rubbish my logic as 'critical desperation'. Not many would agree.
@Bugz_Cool
I really thought I didn't want to elaborate on the word 'powerful' in the phrase 'powerful recommendations'. Now that you happen to be so naive, I guess i'll do the honors. It meant Political Recommendations and Recommendations from the Who's Who in the current world [both govt and pvt business]. I wouldn't like to name anyone. But if you still insist, then please contact the adcom dept of glim. They will be happy to divulge that info.
Getting into XLRI is no joke. So when an institute like XLRI has selected someone, it means that he is in top level. Kindly refrain ridiculing candidates whose profile you dont know.
The results were actually scheduled to come out on the 10th of march. But then it was again postponed to the 15th of march. I guess adcom will be happy to let us know the profiles of all those who attended on the 10th of march. And I haven't heard of one mgmt institute which conducts an interview just 5 days before the final results are out. You can call that highly dynamic, but i call i otherwise.
And as for the 'Channelizing of one's emotions', I believe I haven't let em spill one bit. Its all channelized and doing its intended purpose. Note : If adcom permits, could FNS post the list of candidates who appeared for interview on the 10th of March at Chennai. I believe it wont be a breach any confidential information. Afterall, its normal to put those who attend the GD/PI publicly on the institute website [along with their time slots] | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to The Truth For This Useful Post:

Hi FnS,
Let me clarify that my post was not meant to offend GLIM and its admission committee. GLIM is still a relatively new school, which is still in the process of refining its practises. I have had 2 experiences with GLIM admissions now ( i got kicked last yr as well ) and I have 2 suggestions to make to the present and future adm com:
1. Stick to the final dates of apllication submission. If due to any reason the dates are extended, people who have submitted their applications should be allowed to edit/resubmit the same rather than freezing it. There is no point in discussing the rationale behind this development for this year.
2. If a system can be worked out where a feedback is provided to rejected candidates, it would go a long way in building a better reputation of the insti and following the best practises in the business of providing business education to the aspirants.
I hope the new batch, people who have got through and will be sitting in the ad com, take note of these points for the next session.

Hi FnS,
Is it possible to make the waitlist open? I guess this will add more transparency to the admission process and mentally prepare those candidates to react, in case they get the final call. Or else a straight reject mail should be sent to people who are not even in the WL.
Cheers. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Nonconformist For This Useful Post:

Do i have to say that i gotta call???
the only point where i will go with you is the changing of admission deadlines...i dont think other points hold much water...
i still donno whats the point being made by sayin
2) I also heard that GLIM conducted an interview on the 10th of March. Is it true ???
Congrats to all who made it....Better luck for other institutes (or for GLIM next yr) to those who missed out...
Finally, one thing i have learned from life...channelise your emotions...they are very powerful..let them not be wated where they are not required...
Happiness to all...
Saurabh | Hi Saurabh
One more awesome profile...congrats on Glakes offer and ATB for XL.
I think my post has been miscontrued. Please this part of my post carefully... "Again this is just a guess. The adcom committee may have felt I am not suited for this program as the institute is entitled to have it's own criteria for selection. Only that in Glakes' case, the selection criteria don't seem to match with that of the general perception and hence so many "I am shocked" emails and posts."....
Also, by applying to Glakes I have agreed to their system and hence can't complain if it goes against me. And I am not complaining as well. I only speculated on why I might have been rejected. Your post along with "Horrible" ensured that it remains a speculation and not reality. So, there ends the matter. Also, you would ahve realized by now that speculation has led to lot more Infomration sharing.
I have had many setbacks and I don't even consider this as a setback. I am looking at it in a way that Glakes rejection has saved me 50k as I will any day prefer to join XL over Glakes. XL's GMP results are to be out in March end.
Anyway, thanks for your gyaan on channelizing emotions. Our country is a cornucopia for free gyaan.
Regards,
Umashankar | | | | | | | |

Hi FNS,
I'm nt gonna talk abt the GLAKES admission process. I'm sure they hav strong reasons for accepting/rejecting candidates. I have just 2 requests though :
1) Can you pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaasee ask the adcom to make the waitlist public, so that ppl who r in the wl r atleast prepared in advance. And also who r nt in WL can STOP speculating
2) Pls post the profiles of the candidates who hav been selected so that we hav an idea of wat kind of candidates Glakes is luking for...Believe me, it will go a long way in helping sudents who plan 2 apply for next year.
Thanks,
Tarang. | | | | | | | |

First of all, Congrats to all the candidates who finally made it to Great Lakes... And to all the others, probably you deserve something better (thats what people told me too); Better Luck next time!!!! Rejection is not a good thing to happen when you apply for the first time; it just dampens your confidence... And to not know why you got rejected, makes it worse... I would like to know why I got a reject - so that I can prepare myself for applying next year. Is there any way I can get this information from the Admissions team? Also, I understand that the admission process is relatively new to Great Lakes & the ADCOM team when compared to established b-schools, so I hope the ADCOM Team (Current & Future) will take feedback from the applicants and make the admissions process smoother next year. * Please do not extend the deadlines for essay submissions - not only it is unprofessional, but also it gives room for procrastination. Also, mention in advance when the results will be out; For eg; IIT (for UG - engg) mentions it in its prospectus & sticks to deadlines too!!!!!!!!!!!! * The results (Admit/Reject staus) should be out by Feb 1st week max- if we make it, it allows us to give 2 months notice period to the organization before we join; (I'm sure the people who made it, would agree with me)...For people with more than 3-4 yrs of work-ex, who are in responsible position in the organization, it is difficult to leave the organization within 15 days - 1 month. * Let the waiting-list candidates know, with their wait-list numbers... This will give them an idea of whether the wait is worth it... Hope the feedback will be taken in the right sense & implemented!!! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
