Blood Donation Camp at IIFT on Nov 8, 2005

“The business of business is business”, said Milton Friedman but the corporate world of the 21st Century has come to realize that it cannot alone be the case anymore. Social Responsibility has become an intrinsic part of the corporate activity. Realizing its significance, IIFT takes yet another initiative under the Social Awareness Programme (SAP) umbrella to organise a blood donation camp in association with Rotary Club at IIFT Bhavan on 8th November, 2005 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. The event is being organized by Koshish, social awareness club at IIFT.

Koshish organises many activities as a part of social awareness initiative in IIFT such as voluntary workshops with NGO’s, discussions on social issues for the students so as to create a sense of responsibility in future managers towards the society. It also acts as a communication medium between the academia and the institute.

One such initiative is the blood donation camp at IIFT .It is open for all academic and corporate institutions and otherwise. People are requested to visit the IIFT campus on 8th Nov. and make a positive contribution to the society by donating blood.

Fastblood brings the much needed technological aid to blood donation. the only problem seems to be the limited donor base. but it is gradually picking up. SMS BLOOD to 3636 or log onto www.fastblood.com and help serve the community better.
Though this service is available only in Kerala now, i think this model can be followed and templates can be created across india. anyways l liked the initiative. what makes it even better is the fact that this initiative was started by a couple of students of SCT college of enginnering as a final year project.Done in association with Torque, an incubated start-up in technopark
