You seem to be too much attached to SIOM and therefore rationalising by saying even at IIM all faculty is not liked by students. Comparing SIOM with IIMs is too adventurous. IIM has over 50 faculty and SIOM has just 4 or 5. Majority of IIM core faculty has Ph.D. and corporate experience while none at SIOM. Finally, your statement of "majority of them are competent enough" reveals the reality. Just enough competency is not adequate in moden day B-schools. Forget about IIMs, just look at SPJain and welingkars. Just because you could not get admissions in such institutes you have to come to SIOM and forced to be proud of it.
If you consider SIOM to be so much degraded institute, I don't think a person of your caliber should waste his time on SIOM thread (and that too by crearting an anonymous user id for SIOM)

I won't waste the time in answering your purposeless questions on an irrelevant thread... If you continue to post defamatory remarks against the institute, I'll be left with no option except to ask the moderators to ban you... take it as a warning...

Guys the fact is Faculty is very ordinary as salaries offered r low as vs corporates and all the brightest people barring a few join companies and dont get into teaching.

And many people even at IIM working as faculty r PHD from IIM itself but they had put in 5 years there doing Phd and sacrificed golden years of life around the age of 24-30 which very few highly capable people r ready to do.

MARRIAGE nahi ho pati yaar...

I know a person who was sacked last years and was out of job for more than 6 months and who finally converted IIM-C FMP program and doing PHD there and will be faculty at IIM-C after 5 years..

This much for quality of faculty.

Its been really long since my last my last visit here... It feels like a decade.. PG i missed you badly. How one misses PG i can realize now.

But now its over, no more missing n all.

It‘s been an exciting and hectic two months.

Students are learning the true meaning of time management and being perfect managers as they juggle their time and effort between academics, sports and cultural activities.

With Tattv 09 round the corner, September promises to be a month full of action for students. But before September creeps in, let me just tell you all about the past events/activities that we have been a part of, here in SIOM.

But not now.. I'll get back to this someothertime, its movie time now..

Regards,
Abhinav

Re: Life @ Siom - 28-08-2009, 11:03 PM

Recently IBM rated SIOM amongst the top-institutes for applying against the company openings in Management.
URL: http://jobsearch.naukri.com/mynaukri/mn_newminnernew.php?xz=1_0_2&xo=&js=1&f=2508095000 23&xp=1&xid=125129490856926000&qp=ibm,+siom&qm=-1&qx=-1&qs=r&qt=all&enableRoleMapping=y&qd=1&mode=7

Interestingly, SIOM is the only institute from amongst the Symbiosis family to have featured in the list of institutes whose students/alumni can apply to the above openings featured in IBM's advertisement on Naukri.com.

Guys,
Though the link has now been removed from naukri.com, but the news is correct. SIOM featured the list which had 7 IIMs, 5 IITs (IIT K missing), ISB, NITIE, NMIMS, MDI, SPJ (Mumbai & Dubai).

With only 180 pass-outs, this can be termed as one of the major achievements and still a humble beginning...

AARAMBH – A New Beginning yet again

“I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start, with perhaps a bit of magic waiting somewhere behind the morning...”
-Joseph Priestley

AARAMBH’09 was organized at Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management (SIOM) on 1st August 2009 to extend a bonhomous welcome to the fresh faces of the institution. The senior students expressed its love and warmth by presenting roses and gifts to the juniors. The four hour gala kicked off with some dazzling performances by the students of the senior batch which included skits, musical and dance performances.
The students of the fresh batches of MBA and ADMM (Advanced Diploma in Manufacturing Management) were not far behind. They too showcased their talent through some splendid performances. The underlying theme of most of the performances was ‘unity in diversity’. Some of the students also strutted the ramp to flaunt their western, formal and traditional collections.
However, the highlight of the day was the skit put up by the staff and members of the faculty, which depicted the life of the students at SIOM. Everyone in the audience was flabbergasted to see them act like restless students and jive on the stage.
Now, the icing on the cake was the scrumptious buffet dinner. The seniors and juniors interacted with each other over dinner. The freshers discussed their apprehensions while the seniors shared their experiences and also provided a lot of valuable advice. The crowd then hit dance floor and raved to the numbers churned out by the DJ. One couldn’t have asked for a better ice-breaker.

Thanking Anubhav for wonderful lines, and very true it was a much needed event.
Hoping for such gathering to come soon

Regards,
Abhinav

Re: Life @ Siom - 11-11-2009, 09:40 AM

Hi everyone!!!
i am shashank from new delhi. I am a final year student of biotechnology going to pass out in may 2010.

A few days back i didn't know about SIOM. i just had an idea that it might be yet another profit making institute set up by Symbiosis group.

But after lot of analysis, I think that i may be wrong. i fell that its not just yet another institute but another feather in the SYMBI hat!!!!!

Hats off to seniors who worked really hard to bring laurels to the college in all arenas.
and after this i am really keen to join this institute. I was interested in operations management since the second year of my graduation.

So students, alumnis please help me out.. to prepare for it.
thanks everyone.

Shashank Shekhar Singh
Final year. B.E.

Hi Shekhar good to see your interest in Operations Management
You just need to register for SNAP and score higher than the rest as you are a fresher so there is nothing hard in your way.
Your confidence will drive you through
ATB

To keep a track follow this thread --> SIOM 2010 (SIOM/SNAP 2010 - Admission Queries)
