Re: life @ Sydenham - 23-08-2009, 01:08 PM

Yesterday, we had a guest lecture again.....and that too another bigwig from the industry.
We had Mr. Sunil Handa, an alumnus from IIM-Ahmedabad, also a professor at IIM-A as well as an entrepreneur. He is also one of the entrepreneurs who figures in the list of 25 in the book "Stay Hungry Stay Foolish" by Rashmi Bansal.
He was very down to earth both in attitude as well in his manner of speaking.
He shared a lot of his personal experience on entrepreneurship with us.
The seniors and juniors both attended the lecture and he enticed us so much in the lecture that we did not realize that 3 hours had gone by.
Through all his experiences, he was convincing us to take up entrepreneurship and he was so good at it that I atleast was convinced to take up entrepreneurship.
The one thing he said that entrepreneurs should follow is "Never Give Up!!!!!"

Overall, it was a very good lecture, quite informative and got to learn a lot from his experiences of entrepreneurship.

Finally after a long time, the induction is over.....it was an awesome experience...we had a lot of guest lectures....eminent personalities from the corporate world came down to SIMSREE and shared their experiences.
Now the lectures have begun and they are going on in full flow....
We do get some time in between lectures, but those time slots get occupied with the committee selection process. People are running here and there..one interview after other for the various committees...

But it is good fun...you are on your toes all the time....I guess once the committees are selected, only then we will get down to serious business and concentrate a little bit more on academics.

Nevertheless, we do discuss the Economic Times and other business newspapers regularly on a daily basis which helps us to enhance our knowledge.

Life @ SIMSREE actually rocks!!!!!

Lectures, lectures and more lectures......
One week has gone by in a jiffy.....have attended many lectures and all of them have been equally interesting.
Finally tomorrow, we have our first holiday since we joined SIMSREE.....
Nevertheless, I and some other classmates have to go to college tomorrow for the Alumni Meet.
SIMSREE has organised a small Alumni Meet tomorrow in the afternoon and have to go and make some arrangements....am expecting a great experience tomorrow since we would be interacting with many of the alumni who are currently are at very respectable positions in the corporates.
Will update on the meet tomorrow......
Cheers!!!!

Hey Puys,
Yesterday we had one more very important guest lecture.
It was Rashmi Bansal who visited the SIMSREE campus.
She is the author of the very famous book "Stay Hungry Stay Foolish" which is about the stories of 25 IIM Ahmedabad graduates who went on to become successful entrepreneurs.
She is also the founder and the editor of the JAM (Just Another Magazine).
She spoke about her experiences of journalism as also on some of the snippets from her book.
She mentioned how she went against the course of wind and took up journalism after passing out of IIM Ahmedabad. She also shared some of her experiences at work.
Overall, the session was very good and very inspiring for future entrepreneurs.

Finally the committee selections at SIMSREE are over.....
I really believe that the best of the batch has been selected to the various committees at SIMSREE...Hope we have a great time in working for these committees as well as for the college.
Coming to the lectures at SIMSREE, after a long and hectic schedule, finally we have an off tomorrow. After going through two weeks of gruelling tests, assignments and presentations, finally some respite and a breather before we get back to the packed schedule of next week.
Enjoying every bit of SIMSREE!!!!!!
Cheers!!!

Hello Puys,
Good News!!!!....Good News!!!!
I feel very proud to let you know that SIMSREE has been ranked 10th in The Recruiter's Satisfaction Rankings of Outlook.
The ranking is based is based on answers received to Outlook agency from 108 standard recruiters across the country.
This ranking is an all India ranking and SIMSREE is just one spot behind JBIMS.

The efforts put in by the seniors, the alumni, the current students, etc to churn out quality students have really paid off and I am going to say this again that I am really proud of being a part of SIMSREE.

Kudos to SIMSREE!!!!!!!

Re: life @ Sydenham - 05-10-2009, 12:11 AM

Hello Puys,
SIMSREE celebrated its Foundation Day on 3rd Ooctober. The celebrations took place in the SIMSREE campus itself in honour of it completing 26 glorious years. The entire celebration event was organised by the Student Events committee....This was the first time when the junior batch was involved in organising an event so huge.
We had many dances in the form of Maharashtra's Lavani, Punjab's Bhanga, Gujarat's Garba, etc. There was a hilarious skit too which was a satire on Indian Politics with the Jodha-Akbar period backdrop. The actors who performed the different roles in the skit did full justice to their characters and produced a really awesome performance.
Then there was an instrumental music performance as well as singing. Overall, the entire event was very entertaining.
The Chief Guest for the evening was the ADC to the Governor, Dr. Sanjay Aparanti. He gave a fantastic speech which inspired and motivated the students to a great extent. We are indeed grateful to him to spare time from his busy schedule and spend some time with our college.

Overall, it was a fantastic event, very well organised and very entertaining.
Looking forward for more such events in the future.
