Smile visa - 20-07-2005, 10:36 PM

hi all CBS MBA students,

even m goin 2 apply 4 my visa by mid-aug.

4 Visa u must make sure dat all ur documents expecially

1.) financial (bank-accounts) docs which prove dat u've got enough funds 2 sponser ur MBA

2.) university' unconditional offer letter

3.) IELTS scorescard (although IELTS is not reqd 4 Cardiff, but it's recommended 4 visa, as visa officers usually consider those applicants as serious who've made an effort preparing 4 IELTS)

4.) 10th, 12th, college markscards

5.) passport

6.) general medical health certificate (?)

pls make v.sure dat all ur docs r in proper order, as m afraid dat post 7/7 attacks in London visa formalities might become slightly more strict.
(consult some consultants like Chopra's)

Career Growth post MBA - it's quite hard 2 get a working visa in UK once u complete ur MBA. n even f u manage 2 get 1, generally most companies give prefernces 2 ppl wid work-exp at a managerial level along wid MBA degree.

so dont expect ny miracles 2 happen once u comp MBA. m not discouraging ny1, but dats d scenario. it all depends upon an individual's ability, but u shd. b able 2 find a gud job once u come back 2 India.

bye,
Gaurav

Smile Hi Aparna - 21-07-2005, 10:53 AM

HI there.I am Manoj and i plan to do my MBA in the UK. Regarding to u r query i always would advice you never to go for an MBA in general management as it reduces your chance of placement. Most of the corporates are looking for people specialised in a certain feild. An MBA in general management is equvalent to" Jack of all trades but master of none." And again Cardiff is not the b school to go to as it has come out of the EMBA association. Its reputation has gone down a lot now.I would suggest you to try Strathclyde,Warwick,Judge Institute of management(Cambridge), Said business school(Oxford) or Cranfeild. Its better do your MBA in india rather than doing it at Cardiff. Anyways all the best with your admission. Please do let me know about your decision.
regards
Manoj

hi manoj,

thanx for the help. i was just wondering wat stream in MBA r u plannin 2 take up. and i checked through the RAE ratings and i found that Cardifff has got the ratin as five. and there are 3 oder who have got admission and done some reserch on the some n de gave some pretty positive feedbak. I am also plannin to take up the elective as marketing and the core subjects 2 are marketing related. so i guess even if it general one can sp. in mktg. i also heard that cardiff is prety good for freshers.

Hey aparna,

Read u r message.I am not sure about which rating you are talking about. But as far as i know and the information from my friends in the UK cardiff has really gone down.Anyways please do see for urself. I dont know if you have heard about "MBA Migration Entitlement" that has started last year.According to that one can stay upto a year in the same visa after the completion of the course. This is applicable only to the best 50 b schools in da world.I stronglyy suggest that you please go through this link
http://www.hm-treasury.gov.uk./pre_b...br04_admba.cfm

And let me tell you something. If you really wish to make a career with your MBA its always better you do it from a good b school be it in india or abroad.Otherwise theres no point.Mpreover its always better that you dont go to these Universities that come down to India for students as well as their agents. Have u ever heard about Cambridge or Oxford or Warwick come to india. All these universities that come are all average b schools. So think twice before you jump into anything.

Regarding my stream i have nt decided about it yet.Universities there offer much more specialisation apart from the regular ones.So i am just waiting. Will def let u know if i decide.By the way where are you from? Hope to hear from you soon.Take care
regards

about cardiff mba - 21-07-2005, 07:08 PM

hey thanks for sending me that link but one thing about which i m still cnfused is that i emailed cardiff representatives, askin about visa extensions ,they said u can extentd ur visa and stay for anotrher year once you get a job. they have a advisory body which helps you finding a right job and also prepares you for interviews etc etc. About Rating i was talking about RAE...thts a comm. which does a through research on universities, their performances etc. n its a government body...so relieble enugh.
other think is that i m a fresher with no work experience and very few universities are offering me mba coz of this n out of which i found cardiff is better than that of others.
so the nxt option for me was to take up a pg course like msc in mktg etc. but i think an mba degree is better than a pg degree. not tht i m bias or smthg but i m more interested in doin an mba. well thats wht i think.... btw warwick was in india smtime bk fro 2005 intake addmission. do u know about edwise international? they represents warwick in india.
Anyways I am from mum, i did my grad in BMM (advtg) wth honors. now i m plannin to persue an mba in mktg. what about u?
anyways do let me know ur opinion on this. hpe to hear from u.
