d00d did not get ur point.. after doing MBA from india u plan to do from NUS .. dont know which college u r joining but NUS is comparable to TOP 10 indian B-schools. I have hear d ppl going for 2nd MBA but they do it for super-specialisation in their field nad i dont think NUS provides super-sp .. For that matter u should look for options in Europe and US

Hi CATALYTIC,
I happened to meet this guy who passed out from TAPMI and then proceeded to NUS.
That was what my question was all about.
Am i planning it right?
You gave me the answer.Thnx for the same.
I got similar opnions before and i guess i am satisfied with what you told me.
Bye for now.

Heres my profile

BA in Eco and Comp Sci (don't ask y), from Univ of Rochester, USA. Got calls from XLRI and XIM, but these X instis seem to have something against me as they keep on putting me on their waiting lists ( 2yrs in a row). Finally got frustrated and decided to apply abroad again. Got a call from NUS and decided to go for it.
Have abt 2yrs workex in mutual funds distribution and derivatives trading. Got a 690 on my GMAT (M-50, V-35).
Thats abt it I guess.
For a long time I kept on telling ppl that I don't intend to go abroad again as I thought (still think somewhat) that the future belongs to India. But somehow failed to convince my interview panels abt that as they keep on questioning abt my return to India and why wud I want to come back here??

I can guess why NUS was happy on hearing that u intend to work in India (Many foreign B-skools are giving incentive to their students to return to their mother-land and work there.)
But why an Indian-Bschool is unhaapy i dont understand. Infact u could have been easily placed in a Indian or foreign MNC becoz of ur long exposure to outside culture. Only thing tat might have gone against u is that u have a BA (eventhough are foreign one) and indian schools are "believed" to have softcorner for engg grads

But still NUS is a gr8 skool Congrats on ur admit

Hi praetor,
personally i feel that somehow MBA from NUS will be better...in this way u can be ready to launch your post MBA career in india as well as internationally...rather than being bound to india if u graduated from some indian institute.(leave the exceptions)....so i guess its good in a way...!!
Can you please also post the other schools u apped to....and give us some tips regarding the admit/finances etc...for NUS...as well as other schools that u applied to...
thanks a lot...

Hi,

Thanks for ur queries but my application process shud be tittled what not to do if u want to get into a good b-school
I basically applied due to pressure from my GF and her family. NUS has a multitude of deadlines and the last one was 28th Feb I think. They however extended the deadline by a month and that enabled me to apply. I completed the form along with a essays in abt 4-5 hrs. Thats abt it. As I told u I just applied to NUS and Nanyang and for some reason NUS called and Nanyang didn't. Another thing that might have gone in my favor is that when they called me for the interview, they gave me a choice of doing it over the phone or in person and I chose the latter choice (flying to S'pore from Cal is cheaper than flying to Mumbai).
Thats abt it
