Once again, Thank you very much for quick response.
I will wait for the info to be provided by you regarding current student interaction & Fin-aid.
I feel interaction with current Indian student of NUS will definitely help in clearing the air over many doubts we've in our minds.
Secondly, details of fine-print of bank-financing can also, at times, play a crucial role in decision-making.
Thanks. | | | | | | | |

Is it too late to apply to NUS? Do they consider international applicants even in R2?

The application deadline for the second round is 31st March 2008, so it is not at all late to apply. Although 2 rounds have been specified, admissions are on a rolling basis. All applications received are perused by NUS and does not make any discrimination between international and local applicants. All the best to you.
Thanks,
Abhishek. --- Abhishek.

Hi Abhishek,
Congrats on your admit. I think I had seen u in the Mumbai MBA fair. Had prof. Singh pointed to you and said look here he has attracted my attention by being well-dressed and u were the only person in a suit in that group?
Well that aside, i have a few questions and wud be glad if u cud answer. Heres my profile:
GMAT - 720/5.5(2006)
TOEFL - 111(2007)
Acads - Avg, BE Computers from Mumbai Univ
Extra Curriculars: Good
Exp - 3+ years as software engineer in a GE Energy, working on developing software products
Knowledge of Spanish, FP counting and Six Sigma Green belt.
1. Since I gave my GMAT in 2006 would that play a role in the decision?
2. How important is a good score in BE considering I am from Mumbai univ with only 59%. Will my GMAT score offset that?
3. Had u mentioned ur TOEFL score in the app?
4. How much importance is given to achievements during school? I was the class rep for 3 years winning Best Class for all 3 years and also topped the school in 10th.
Regards,

Yes I am the same guy you are referring to. In the middle of answering someone's question, he had suddenly pointed at me and taken my name. You can read my experience of that entire day at the link NUS Interview Experience in my signature.
Well that aside, i have a few questions and wud be glad if u cud answer. Will be obliged to answer your queries.
Heres my profile:
GMAT - 720/5.5(2006)
TOEFL - 111(2007) You might remember it being mentioned in the NUS MBA Fair that the average GMAT score for Indian applicants is 680-690. So your GMAT score is well above the average. Also, TOEFL is not required for Indian applicants.
Acads - Avg, BE Computers from Mumbai Univ
Extra Curriculars: Good
Exp - 3+ years as software engineer in a GE Energy, working on developing software products
Knowledge of Spanish, FP counting and Six Sigma Green belt. In the NUS MBA Fair and later during my interview with Prof. Kulwant Singh, it was mentioned many times that NUS stresses on a balance of GMAT score, acads, extra-currs and what you did after passing out. You certainly possess a rich job portfolio. Also you have mentioned that you have good extra-currs. As long as you are able to reflect all this in your essays and then in interviews, you certainly have a chance. You will be expected to have intelligent conversations on current topics from the point-of-view of the areas that you have worked in.
1. Since I gave my GMAT in 2006 would that play a role in the decision? This should not be an issue at all.
2. How important is a good score in BE considering I am from Mumbai univ with only 59%. Will my GMAT score offset that? Although a first class in BE would have been good, your GMAT and Extra-currs might offset that. However, you may be asked reasons for not scoring well in BE. You have to be prepared for that.
3. Had u mentioned ur TOEFL score in the app? Well I did not give TOEFL . Whether to mention about it or not is your call. Since you have a good score, it might work to your advantage. On the other hand, it also indicates that you are applying to the US. So then you might be asked about that.
4. How much importance is given to achievements during school? I was the class rep for 3 years winning Best Class for all 3 years and also topped the school in 10th. All such achievements are quite important since as I mentioned before, they look for a balance between non-academics and academics.
Regards,
Pankaj | All the best. Thanks, Abhishek. --- Abhishek.

Finally finished applying today.. My referees have also submitted their recommendation letters.. However (as expected) the my application portal shows that they have not received my Transcripts, GMAT scorecard and my resume..
I have sent those by PDF copy only ( I discussed it with the admision office at NUS and they said its ok, I dont need to send hard copies).
I hope they update this at their end and consider my application in the first round itself. Im keeping my fingers crossed..
Anyone (particularly Abhishek- since you are taking so much pain to answer every query on this thread), has any idea how long before they send me an interview call ( or in worst case a reject before a call- last year they took a full 11 weeks before they sent me an interview call)..
Sam If you can't convince yourself, then you can convince no one.. _________________________________________________ Confused between ISB and SBS..!!!

Sam | Hey Simz,
Do not worry about the status of your documents. The adcom does sometimes take time to update the status. Infact, the status of my Official GMAT Score from ETS was updated AFTER I got an admit. Infact, it was updated only when I sent them my lock in amount and other documents once I accepted the admit .
Well I can't really say how much time they will take to sent you an interview call. My case was totally different. You will know what I mean if you read my interview experience link present in my signature.
All the best to you.
Thanks,
Abhishek. --- Abhishek.
