I have finished my essays and my CV. Also, I have finished filling up all the fields in the online application. If I submit my application now, will I be considered for R1 (31-Dec). I have not sent my official scores, transcripts and my referee reports.
My pending work would definitely cross the R1 deadline. As long as you submit your online application by 31st December, it will be considered for Round 1. In the Supporting documents section, you anyways can upload scans of the supporting documents included in the Resume.
Also, I have a score of 670 and 4.5 yrs of work exp in IT and manufacturing. Do you think itz worthwhile to apply with my score and exp. I don't want all my efforts to simply go waste if my application is rejected outright. The average GMAT score for Indian applicants is 680-690. So your GMAT score is close to that. The average experience at NUS is 4 years. So your experience is also close to average. NUS does peruse every application it gets. So you can be rest assured that every aspect of the application will be considered. | All the best. Thanks, Abhishek. --- Abhishek.

BA - Economics - 61%
GMAT - 640 NUS stresses on a balance between GMAT score, good acads and extra-currs. Although the average score for Indian applicants is 680-690, GMAT is just one aspect. I personally know someone at NUS with goods acads, good extra-currs, good essays and good interviews getting into NUS at a score of 620. NUS does peruse every applicant that it receives. So you can be rest assured that you application wont be rejected based on score alone.
Currrently working on editorial side in Number 1 business news channel in India
Past exp has been with top Hindi News channel.
And another doubt I have is that are there any students from Media or to be more specific news channels...!! Because I want to shift from editorial side to the marketing side. Will it help me. I will stick to the media sector but on the corporate side. From the link below you will see that as much as 18% of the previous batch went to Marketting post-MBA. So there's certainly scope for your interests. NUS Placement Stats
I am applying for NUS and NTU but have serious doubts whether I would get call with such score. I can't really comment about NTU but if you write good essays and have a decent profile, your score won't really stop you from getting an interview call. | All the best. Thanks, Abhishek. --- Abhishek.

Hi Abhishek ,
Your posts have been truely elucidating .
One query though . Is there are particular disadvantage to apply in the second round ? I know there are some US schools which dont offer scholarship to round 2 applicants . But I am not sure about the repurcussions in NUS .
Thanks and Regards

Thanks a lot Abhishek..!
But the query of people from media is still unanswered. Do NUS has people from media or to be more specific from News Channels. Does NUS looks at diversity like ISB does or it looks more at IT people with 700+ gmat. Because diversity could be only way that I could get through. | | | | | | | |

Every B-school likes to bring diversity and NUS is no exception. There no preference at all for any particular field. The number of people with prior experience in a particular field might only be reflective of the number of applicants from that field. Below is the statistic of the prior experience of the students in the previous batch: Consulting 4% Education 3% Engineering 23% Finance 15% Government 2% Marketing 3% Media 1% Operations 4% Others 11% Technology 33%
I do not think you can get statistics upto the level of knowing which particular field a candidate is from. So I can't really tell you how many are from News Channels.
Although diversity is good, I do not think any school will sacrifice quality over diversity. Why do you think that you might be able to get in only due to diversity? Have confidence in yourself. Confidence is the key. All the best.
Thanks,
Abhishek. --- Abhishek.

Insomniac | Hi Insomniac,
Saw that you posted at 4:15 AM IST. Don't you sleep?
Regarding what you stated about US schools not offering scholarships to Round 2 applicants: Usually if that is the case, it is clearly stated on the website. NUS does not mention anything of that sort. So I do not think that applying in Round 2 is disadvantageous from a scholarship point-of-view.
My personal advice to Indian applicants is that they should apply early. Since NUS accepts only about 150 every year and maintain diversity in the nationality of students, NUS tries to restrict the number of Indian students to about 50.
Although two rounds are specified, the admissions are on a rolling basis. So the earlier you apply, the better.
Thanks,
Abhishek. --- Abhishek.
