Need Opinions and advice on consultants -

Hi all,
Joined this group today, and I am aiming for Fall 06 session. GMAT in may this year. I wish to know if one should go for a consultant's help or not. I am at indore and don't know any good consultant for this GMAT (tho there are several for GRE :sad.
Does it help in app process and in getting fin-aid? I have 2+ yrs of work-ex in s/w.
