TOEFL waiver - 30-11-2004, 01:41 PM

Hi.

I am in the process of applying to Univs. Most Univs allow a TOEFL waiver if you have an undergrad degree from an English medium Univ.

My question - Do I need to send any documentation to prove that I am entitled to the waiver? anyone with experience???

Sorry, I do not have experience but as I am undergoing a similar procedure for MBA, I think, I can comment on this.

Not sure abt the PHd application as such, but for the MBA program, there is this last optional essay/ supplemental information sheet where I am planning to write abt my English proficiency (ya, whatever ) Guess u cld do the same if u have something similar in ur application format. Else, ask the Adcom guys.

Hope it helps!
Simba

If the UNIV mentions that they dont need toefl, u dont need to send any supporting doc.

for some univs, which require toefl for ALL foreign students, with ur high gmat score, if u request a toefl waiver, almost all of the less bureaucratic schools will give u a waiver.

I called up stanford, Sloan and Haas. they don't need Toefl scores from Indians who have done their schooling in English medium. All three have advised to contact other univs too because the criteria varies from univ to univ.
HTH.

Re: TOEFL waiver - 11-07-2007, 10:30 AM

Hi, i am planning to give gmat this year and i hav around 3 yrs of work ex with 1+ yr on-site (international) work ex. I would like to know if the toefl waiver is still appplicable to the top institutes. Is it still on a college to college basis and is confirming with every college the best way to find it out?
I am also unable to get dates for the toefl exam at newzealand till sep 15 and is it allright to write the exam later and submit the toefl score seperately after the application form has already been submitted acc to the 1st deadlines. Will the delay in toefl scores pose a prob to my application?
Any thots on this will be helpful.
Cheers
Divya
