I couldn't find a forum for Smith MBA aspirants. So I am starting one here.
I am late for R1 but going strong on R2. Here's my profile in brief.

TOEFL: Waiting for the score


Planning to apply to 5 schools and Smith is the first one in the queue.

I applied to Smith School in the first round. And I just got an email for the interview. :-)

I guess I'm happy now but since this is my first interview - I am kinda worried!

GMAT 730/5.5
TOEFL 112
ECA Good
Acads Good
WEx 3.5 years

Any pointers for the interview preparation anyone?

I am still working on my apps. Aiming for the Dec 15th deadline. Do you have any tips to share on the essays?
This is my first year too so have no clue about the interviews. Do post your experience after the interview.

The only tip for the essay is that u shud not go to an agency to write it for you. I wrote my essays myself and I guess it worked.

Do ask your friends to review your essays for you. Ask them for their honest opinion.

One quick question for you. Do the recommendation letters have to be in a question answer format or a single letter one? Do we have to adhere to the format that is provided by the school?

yeah! the recommendation letters have to be in the same format as the school prescribes..
and since your referees have to fill an online form, there is little room for manipulation!

so u will be better of by asking ur referees to answer question by question. and just in case u did not know, u can download a pdf version of the reco form from the UMD website so that u can send it to your referees.

at times the referees are reluctant to access the online form. so it will be better if u send them the pdf.

disclaimer: i haven't seen the UMD reco form - my referees filled the form and submitted on their own (although at the last minute) so the above is from what they told me and prior experience!

Can someone pls tell me wts the update on "Decision Status" tab once you login to the Smith-embark site and track your app status (last link)?
For me it is showing as "Complete" -- now am nt sure wt it means; that the application status is complete or that the final decision is complete?

i am going in for the telephonic interview but unable to decide on the appropriate time and date. my network bandwidth is not that great so i am pretty sure if i run skype video+voice, there are going to be some issues.
anyways, what is ur profile?
