Pittsburgh (Katz) 2010 - 12-08-2009, 11:33 AM

Hi Guys,

I am looking forward to Apply to Katz this year. Since there was no thread for Katz 2010 session, I have created it.

The + points for Katz are one of the cheapest Dual degree programs, great ROI. It has also been doing well in FT rankings. Heard that the College Career services are working pretty hard. They seem to provide good scholorships as well.

So let this thread serve as a get-together for the Katz 2010 applicants.

Seniors please drop in with your views about the following:
  1. How adversely has slowdown affected the internship and job scenerio at Katz for the international students?
  2. Would you suggest us to go to Katz, given that we might have to come back to India post MBA?
  3. Does Katz have a tie up with any bank for international loans?
  4. How good is Katz for a career switcher like me(from IT to Consulting/General Management)?
ciao

Re: Pittsburgh (Katz) 2010 - 12-08-2009, 11:35 AM

Here's my profile:

GMAT: 710(Q: 49, V: 3
Exp.: 4+ yrs by Sep,2010 IT

Acads: ok ok
X: 78%
XII: 67%
B.Tech.(CSE): 71.3%

Extra Curr.: Not much. I play a lot of games like Lawn Tennis, Badminton, Pool ,Snooker, Squash, cricket etc. I am an avid reader and read a lot. I was also one of the organizers of the Technical Festival in my college.

Specialization interested in: General Mgmt/Strategy/Entrepreneurship

I have lead a team for around 18 months and was responsible for the training activities of the new joinees in the project.

My USP is the diversity I offer. I have worked for 3 different banking clients and many domains like credit cards, Data warehousing, Credit Bureau , Associate application development etc. I have worked for 5 different projects and 6 different technologies . So, I have had to adapt quickly to the technology, people and work culture of the different teams. 4 out of the 5 projects that I have worked had really tight deadlines and since my company had got work in those areas for the first time, there was additional pressure to do well to gain a foothold .

I plan to work in General Management/Consulting post MBA and plan to start my own venture in long term(10-15 years post MBA)

Katz has good program and ROI factor seems really attractive. Also it accepts higher no. of international students and prefers younger applicants compared to other reputed programs. Though it climbed in FT09 rankings, but I doubt it's preferred that much by students.

I am still finalizing my schools for US.

@dipenambalia, if you are interested in courses other than MBA you should post your query on this thread : http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/intern...eyond-mba.html (International educational options beyond the MBA)

Top 10 in US are very good in Consulting/Strategy. Given your experience you can also consider the 1 year courses offered by IIMs
