My queries w.r.t admissions are as below :
- Since both graduation (B.Com) and postgratuate (CA) are through correspondence will this be a hinderance / disqualification for admission..??
- I have cleared B.Com in 2005 and CA in 2008 and articles on Jan 09. Now, my work experience as at end of 2009 will be 4 or 2 work exp i.e., post gration wil be taken into account or post CA..??
- I understand that minimum 2 years of work experience is "preferred" and some say its mandatory.. Kindly clarify..
- Right now my profile is in audit / assurance in a public limited company.. Will this profile be a hindrance in admission..??
Thanks a ton.. Cheers...!!

1. graduation is valid as long as it is recognised by wes.org
2. we take work exp post CA into account.
3. we need minimum 2 years to consider you for the school
4. absolutely not.

Will this have any effect on my admission.. ie., am i disqualified from seeking admission..??

Dear Sir,
I have observed your response to GMAT exam query. In one reply you have said a prospective student can take GMAT exam on Nov 30 and send the unofficial GMAT scores. Official scores would be collected from Pearson/GMAC.
But, in ISB site - under "Have a Question", I have observed the following note:
Question: When should I submit my GMAT score report to ISB?
Answer: Please ensure that you have requested Pearson to send the Official GMAT Score to the ISB before submitting your application. The GMAT Code for the school is N2D-J5-01. We regret we will not be in a position to short-list you, if your official score is not reported to the ISB at least by September 30th for Cycle-1 and by December 15th for Cycle-2. Please note: Pearson usually takes about 2 -3 weeks time to report the official score from the date you place your request.
Can you please clarify this - because GMAC usually report the scores within 20 calender days and if i take GMAT on 30th Nov, i am likely to miss Dec 15 deadline.
Regards,
Omprakash

Dear Dr. Menon,
I just took my first ever GMAT today. Suffice to say that I would not select myself into ISB with that score. What or how my prep strategies were, are immaterial at this point. However, I know I can do better with some constructive help.
My question therefore to you is, since the GMAT cannot be taken before the next 31 days, and given the unavailability of slots until 02 Dec, 2009, would it be wise to pursue the 01 Dec 2009 deadline? I understand that it takes approximately 20 days for the official scores to reach the institute. Would ISB consider the +/- 6 days delay?
Truly appreciate the way you have been encouraging of every prospective applicant here. I would have loved to notch up my application a lot more before applying this year, however, here are a few stats of mine. Would greatly appreciate an honest appraisal.
Distinction in class X and XII
Science Grad - First Class marks
Post Grad (part time) - Grade A
Work exp - 5 years (3 MNC's) in various specialized roles.
Interests - Social Service(s) and a decent pursuit of some fine art(s).
Do please feel free & ask me not to apply this year.
Regards.

Dude,
It is correct ,that ,once you've written GMAT you need a month to be eligible to write GMAT again.
Coming to the question on availability of dates a small tip for you. If you do a check for dates over a short period, it is highly likely that you will get a date easily.
I scheduled my GMAT on a short notice of 24 hours. I got an appointment.
To confirm this, try to check for a date (You don't have to schedule the appointment) in next few days. You should get a date easily.
ATB for your GMAT..Cheers.
Umesh

Dear Dr Menon & ISB Team,
Thanks a lot for your reply..
I have a query w.r.t work experience and CABM certification
I started my carrier in the month of Jan 09. I will complete 2 years in Jan 2010. Given the application cycles of Sept and Dec, when is the earliest date i can apply. Do i have to wait till Sept (nearly 9 months) to apply..??
I recently read about CABM certification in ISB's FAQ section. I am from finance (CA), How CABM certification help in getting admission..??
Thanks a ton...

Dear Dr Menon
An NGO was registered in Feb 09 which is run by my family members(typically my sister's in laws) and me. I don't have any controlling stake but I am an active member of that organization and I do have my name in organization's official document. I am having a photocopy of those documents.
My question is
1. If I should mention this in my application. This is a very new organization in its infancy.
2. Would ADCOM need any official document to verify my membership. Or let me put it this way, should I bring those documents or say affidavit stating that this person is a member of that organization so that I can prove that I am indeed a person actively involved in running that organization or would adcom believe me without these docs.
PS: This is not my primary business. I work for a fortune 500 company as a Systems Analyst and withdraw my salary from this company. NGO is just a part time activity to keep my soul satisfied.

Hello Sir,
I am a PhD student in Cancer Biology at the National University of Singapore working with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*Star). I am tenured to complete my PhD by 2012. I have a bachelors' and masters' from India in Biological sciences and an interim Research Associateship at the Cleveland Clinic, US.
Contrary to common notion of PhD researchers ending up being either academicians or if in the industry only in the R&D sector, i wish to have my share in administrative responsibilities. I have been thorugh career counselling sessions and always been recommended of having managerial or entrepreneurship skills. Hence, I decided to have a try in looking for a degree in management.
Looking for one year MBA courses within India the best i could possibly imagine is the ISB. Being my profile is quite different from the rest ISB applicants (i guess) i wish to know how i fit into the vista of ISB aspirants. Is the MBA a good choice of me? There are other courses offered at ISB (e.g. doctoral and post-doctoral), does any of them cater to my needs.
I already have a yet valid GRE-TOEFL. I wish to get prepared for my GMAT. I have been living outside India for some two and a half years now and given a choice i would like to work in India itself. I will appreciate if you could help me with the perspectives i am looking for.
Regards
Kingshuk Poddar

Re: New! [2009] ISB Hyderabad official thread: Admissions Director Dr VK Menon answer -

Dear Sir,
I'm an Indian woman, 25 yrs of age and my profile is as follows. (The question nos in front of my questions have been highlighted in red):
10th - 84.33%,
12th- 58.17%,
Bachelor of Management Studies (Mumbai University) - 70.91% (first class with distinction)
GMAT: 700 (Verbal-38, Quant-48 )
Work ex- 2 years 10 months, Marketing and General Management profiles.
05-06 - worked for an NGO as communication Executive
06-07 - worked for a manufacturing, small EOU as Management trainee
07-08 - Worked for a leading retailer as Marketing Executive (handled all marketing related activities of several stores across India alone for a few months, re-launched the loyalty program)
Took 1 year, 9 months break from work.
Extra curriculars: decent...
I am currently not working and have started looking. Hope to start soon (extending my current profile). So my total experience would be around 3 years 2 months by March 2010.
Sir, I took the break for extremely personal reasons. For my well being, i have been asked to refrain from talking about the real reasons by experts. During this period, I have worked on life skills primarily but have not 'visibly' (atleast thats what i think) been very active on that front too due to the constraints I have had. So I'm feeling very unsure and confused about how to justify this break. 1. Will you be able to suggest how I can approach this? 2. I wanted to know from your perspective, what are the disadvantages of having such a long break for no fault of ones own.
Also Sir, i have applied in the past and had my application rejected for 4 different reasons (as was mentioned in the feedback). I have been able to work only on one of those i.e. GMAT and have improved my score phenomenally. Second point was that my reason for doing the course at ISB did not appear to be strong enough. This also can be worked upon through essays. However, i was given 2 other points to consider- quality of work ex was not rich enough and no significant awards and achievements. My application last time was slightly hurried and that may be one of the reasons (among some real ones) why I got some of these feedbacks. However, I can't do anything about these 2 in this cycle because I haven't been able to work.
3. Please help me understand how the fact that I applied hurriedly last time and haven't significantly improved on the application this time will affect my chances and 4. what is your view on such an application. 5. Also, do you think that the improvements in my profile are significant enough to justify a reapplication this year.
6. Wat are the weaknesses in general (overall) do you see in my current profile?
Thank you so much for your time and help. Really appreciate it.
Regards
