Had my interview today. It was more of a pleasant discussion rather than a grilling session with very little cross questioning. They called me up dot on time.Started off with my job profile and my company's domain.Moved on to what I do, challenges and why MBA?Had a small discussion on current affairs and my gmat score. It was done in flat 15-20 mins. No case studies and no quant questions. Could not make anything out of it! The best thing is to be yourself and also brush up the current affairs. They were very keen on current affairs. Happy Diwali to everyone and best of luck to the other Puys who are yet to be interviewed!Cheers,

Had my Intv today @ NY . 1st one is US to be intved. Started with why India and not US. moved to why mba (indirectly) ? moved to why you ? long term goal (indirectly). Why IIMC ? Qs on quant (definition of a few terms) to check if i can manage quant in the programme. asked me to prove that i have good quant skills.....too much focussed on quant..........no grilling......very friendly.........to sum up ...............very good intv exp............dont know what will happen.....but i am satisfied and they also seemed satisfied.

All the best to rest of you.

Re: IIM Calcutta PGPEX IV : Admission process and beyond - 18-10-2009, 10:03 AM

I had the 10.30 am slot today - the 4th one in the US to be interviewed. When I entered the room I expected two people to interview me, but only one member from faculty was present. Later I found out that alum was out for some work. The professor was very friendly and he started the conversation just as the one you will have with someone on a train on a leisure trip. The first question that indicated that the "real" IV started was -
- Tell me about yourself - I explained this pretty well.
- Why leave your company now, given the good progression - I was able to explain my long term goals.
- Why MBA? - How can I realize my long term goals.
- Why did not join the army (my family background is in defense services)
- Didn't get through CAT? -This came as a surprise question and I just response in a negative. I didnt explain how I acheived a pretty high percentile even without preparation - darn!
- Can you cope up with the rigourous course work? - He stressed on this a little bit time and again and I responded with the same confidence.
- Accomodation? He acknoledged the lack of infrastructure and married accomodation will be allocated based on the acceptance recieved by IIMC from candidates (FCFS)
- No quant question
- No current affair question
- No grilling

I think it was a very relaxed interview. As other candidates mention - it is difficult to see what to make out of this. Either they know they are going to reject you unless you show a flash of brilliance. Or they know that they are accepting you unless you screw up the interview..... I guess will wait till the decision is out... Best of luck to other Puys...

I interviewed in NY after VishalVivek. The alum started with standard questions like 1) tell me about yourself 2) why mba 3) what after mba? 4) How my past job will help post mba 5) what roles can I get in India without MBA.

There was some discussion on energy related topics and that was it.

Overall it went very well.

I had interview today 8th. first of the day.
Very friendly conversational kind of affair,
alumnus was more keen to know why india? and why now?
The prof. asked background, why mba, why iimc etc.
it lasted 10-12 minutes.
difficult to guess the outcome..

lets keep the fingures crossed.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU..

good luck

Re: IIM Calcutta PGPEX IV : Admission process and beyond - 19-10-2009, 07:01 PM

I had my interview on Saturday Oct 17th at 10.30AM. It was a pleasure to meet all Puys- anshuman, Amar, Shohaib, Ramaswamy..
The interview was conducted in a hotel room. Before interview the three candidates for the hour slot were put up in a separate hotel room.
The interview was conducted by one IIM-C Prof and one IIM-C alumni.

As all of us in NY already told the interview was very cordial no stress interview at all. The Prof and alumni were very patient.
The interview started with how much experience I do have..precisely in months... then why I am with the same company for so many years..I gave my reasons...then why to leave all this and come back to India...answered why India...Prof went through my certificates and asked for the recent salary slips. I showed him the exact copies. Meanwhile Alumn was genuinely interested in my reasoning behind returning to India. He asked me have I got my GC yet..then recommended one should get that before returning to India..then I gave my reasons and plans..he seemed convinced
Then Prof stepped in asked what is my take on Raj Thackery issue in Mumbai :-)..I am from Mumbai...I took my stand and defended it well then he asked me what I think about the Enron issue in US and in Maharashtra.. They were in listening mode..no counter arguments and no counter questions..
then they asked me what do I think why the collapse of financial institutions occurred in US...thanks to PG discussions especially the PBS documentary on IIM-A thread...I gave my take on the issue..then they asked how would this have averted...I told my reason; I don't think I answered in exact words which they were looking for..Alumn tried to guide me through different hints..I told them my understanding of the issue..
They asked me if I had any questions..
I asked three questions the Prof answered all of them in very detail...
overall just nice chit-chat experience..no clue about what to take away...
Good luck to all of you..now the killer wait begins

Can anyone, who was interviewed over the phone, confirm if they were asked to send copies of their salary slips or employment proofs?

Cheers,
