Infact, there are 5 people from the energy and related sectors in our batch. The range of experience varies from 11-18 years. Last year, there was one person from Sales and Marketing in Energy Sector and he moved to an IT firm in a similar kind of a role.

That said, I will also like to add that, since the course has a average experience in the range of 8-10 years. One has to show good quality experience if one is at the lower end of spectrum in terms of experience

2. What matters at the end is your overall profile. Its the whole package that matters so its very difficult to quantify on each area objectively. You should strive to figure out what makes your profile stand out. e.g if you have exceptional EC, it will help you tide over a average GMAT score. similarly, if you have a exceptional GMAT score, average EC will work. That is one exceptionally good area in your application will help you in coming over deficiency in others. So work over your complete profile GMAT,EC,Interview,Application,Recommendation etc rather than individual components.

Hello Rk/Surjendu and puys -

I am also planning to apply to the IIMC PGPEX this year and here is my profile :
---------
Indian IT Male(wat else...) ...30/8.5/IT(Healthcare)/5 yrs intl
Acads: good to very good
GMAT: 700
EC-Member of a microfinance venture/Regional US Community Lead for my State/Established a few technical clubs/Avid cinephile.
----------

I know I am from a an ultra comptt pool of applicants, would it be wise to stress on the healthcare domain aspect of the app? If so, what should I know and at what level of detail? anyone from the healthcare domain in the current batch?

Thanks for your guidance and ATB all-

You SHOULD differentiate your self by using health care as the lever.
Some IT guys forget that even in IT you have multiple differentiators. How much of health care to use depends on you. The goal is to make your application such that the Adcom wants to meet you! Now you have to figure out how
I don't think we have anyone from healthcare. At least I cant remember now. Will let you know if I chance upon someone.

In addition to what has been mentioned, I think you should also focus on bringing your various strengths and interests in line with your overall goal. This should come out in a succinct manner in your application and interview.

Hello Rk/Surjendu/Saurav
Iam planning to apply for PGPX this year.
Iam a Post Graduate in Electrical Engineering from NIT Calicut.
Very good Academic record(Consistently 80+% GATE - 98%) Stood first in Graduate and Postgraduate level.
EC-poor.
Have 7 years of experience(4 years in PSU Power Eeneration company + 3 Yrs in IT).
GMAT-Yet to appear.

Could you guys please throw some light on my chances, what may be the decent GMAT score and areas of improvement?.

Cheers
Koushik

The best GMAT score will be 800.
My suggestion is try to score as high as you can. However there is no defined boundary. This year the average is about 720 and so is the median.
Read RK's post about GMAT scores. There is no score which will ensure admission but a too low score (read <650) will reduce chances (not eliminate)

Thanks,
