Thanks Amit for all the valuable infor
you've ben a great help
I think It is is better to research all options esp H1 related before taking the final plnge.
it seems to be a gud idea to get the H1b this yr and get to the univ , so that one doesnt have to be depending upon the lottery again for gettign H1 next yr.
Also do u think 1 yr MBA can help u change your career path from say IT to banking, bcoz normally 1 yr course doens not have tht much time to focus on any particular concentration , they are genrelly General mnagmen courses.
ALso I have about this Great Lakes in Chennai , is it as god as ISB.
and is it a one yr course too.SO is it better to join this or to join a 2nd Tier US univ
saurs,
this is my understanding. if u have time and age on ur side..then do a 2 yr mba. also i understand if u are under age 30, people prefer 2 yr...over 30 age...maybe upto 35 people dont like spending 2 yrs studying due to various reasons..also one has so much experiance it matters less. my guess is if u are 35..u wouldnt like sitting with 24 yr olds in class...so the programs with high average age is cool. i think the 1 yr mbas generally are accelerated and have people with more work ex, age etc. the internship in two yr mba is critical in changing functions.
i dont think great lakes is as good as ISB. Isb clearly is much better and has great branding in india. if working in india is cool..then ISB is a great option. if working in US/canada post mba etc..then obvioulsy a US mba is the only way u will get there..
check out on the H1B quota transfer issue properly before taking such a big decision. defer ur cincinati admit and apply to some more US schools for next year. also i feel a H1B visa and subsequent work exp(plus salary in $ for mba fees) in the US will only strengthen ur application for a better US mba next year. which city will u be in?

I am studying for my GMAT right now...Plan to take it by beginning of Sept.(Qn #1:is that too late?)
I am looking at 1 year MBA options ONLY.ISB is the top on my list.
I am an IT engr(with 61 % in Engr.. first class but nowhere near top of class) and am low on work ex(2 years by Oct).. so want some backup plans in case my GMAT score does not touch the ceiling...
I want to know which MBA schools , in Europe and US, can I get into, and how expensive are they? Wanna keep the expense as low as poss (dont we all??? )
The PGPX Program at IIMA is one of the best 1-Year MBAs today globally.
With a minimum 7 years work ex requirement and high GMAT average ( think it is approx. 730 for the third batch starting in April 2008 ) it is not an easy program to get into.
But in terms of placements, ROI, MBA experience, networking etc this program is absolutely great and better than most schools in US/Europe. (Unless of course the reason to do a MBA is to settle abroad in US/Europe and MBA is just an entry strategy.)
Copy-pasting a link to an article talking about placements for current batch:
Hi Guys,
I need your inputs in deciding 1 year MBA option.
I have been selected to IMI (International Managemnt Institute), Delhi for Executive MbA(formarly known as PGPIM)
This is a 15 months duration course meant for people with around 5 yrs work ex.
My Profile:
Techie with 4.5 yrs work ex in BFSI vertical
2 years Onsite experience at top Wall street bank
NCFM, IIBF certifications.
Average Acads. B.TEch. NIT
Below average Extra Curricular.
I recently decided about doing 1 year MBA and got through IMI.
I have not yet appeared for GMAT nor applied to any other college.
In my present job, I don't see any promotion ,decent salary hike for next 1.5 yrs atleast.
I am very intersted in studying business and want to pursue MBA.
Let me know if I should go ahead and join IMI or else I should go for GMAT and then try ISB/IIM in next 1-2 yrs time?
Your inputs will be of great help
regards,
Vaibhav
