Good thread ...
I am looking for similar info...
Pittsburg (Katz) is one that offers a 1 year MBA.
Babson also offers a 1 year MBA but stipulates that you need an undergraduate degree in business ...
The question is what are the placement statistics like for the 1 year vs the 2 year MBA....?

Well I do not see a reason why you should not apply. acads are only one part of the overall package. I sail in the same boat as you. 8 yrs experience, same GMAT score and average acads. a few years of international experience. I started off on the same line. 1 year course should be fine for me etc etc. However after I got the PGPX offer, I thought about a lot of things regarding the quality of education, overall MBA experience and am now convinced it does not matter whether it is 1 year or 2 year MBA program. The only important thing is which school can help you meet your career aspirations. Admittedly, the ROI could be better for a 1 year program but I feel thats a very very short term view. Apply the 80:20 rule here as well. All of us will earn 80% of our life savings in the last 20% part of our career. So why worry too much about ROI at this juncture. Make sure that we do MBA from a place which will help us reach to the top faster. It will be good to lengthen that "20%" part of our career. Ofcourse it is individual's capabilities which takes one to the top but a good school can atleast sharpen some of the rough edges . For an Indian MBA, thats where IIMA's PGPX might be better than ISB. They have clear focus - Train managers for middle and senior management positions and is targeted for people like us. It will be a good feeling to be amongst people with same managerial experience as yours but with diverse professional background. Class size of 70 does not harm either.
No advert for PGPX here , just providing another perspective to confuse you more. JK .
In the last few weeks I have talked to lot of alumni from different top US B-Schools and have a tried to get some understanding of different schools. Ultimately, it is important to find out why you want to do MBA and then which schools will suit you best. Thats what adcoms also want to know from you.
Hope that helps
Cheers

hiii guys r u aware of bim bangalore chapter??its a 1 yr course and first batch is underway.so no placements data.
i need all of urs advice.i have got confirmed seat in icfai gurgaon and have paid 30k for it too so its confirmed.
bt im considering biom bangalore as its a 1 yr course so shorter turnaround time.
the concern is no placements to falls back upon and unlike gr8 lakes or isb thr's no buzzzz abt this institute despite being from bim.no international faculty etc-looks a pretty half hearted attempt from bim.
my profile:
bcom hons grad 2004,calcutta univ
10-78
12-66
grad-50
work ex-2 yrs in IT marketing(hardware)
1.5 yrs in BPO(banking)
am intrested in marketing specialisation- mainly in finan services/banking secotr-Marketing and also maybe bpo's in managerial profiles.
bim is reputed for finance right?
seniors from bim since u must be having idea abt the bangalore chapter and u have my profile and aspiration,i hope u can advice me wethr to stick to icfai which has good placements in banking/bpo sector or go for bim bangalore.
looking forward for guidance

Need some help here !! | Dude! If you wanna know about 1 year Programs .... It could be in UK ... Most of the UK varsities offer 1 year courses .... PG has already pointed out the US universities for it .....
In India you have ISB, SPJain, GLIM, IIMA, IIMC etc ....
However I must tell you that 15 lacs budget would be another Kohinoor to find ...... Even apna ISB exceeds it [14 lacs for Tution 1.26 lacs for Acomodation + Living Cost]
You need Aid to sail through without much expenses .... If you dont get aid ... not to worry ... you have Banks to do the job
Another aspect you might want to look at is ... Your Experience ... I wont say ppl dont get through in 1 year courses with that experience ... still its towards the lower side ... [I am in the same boat] .... Also I feel it makes more sense to get into 1 yr courses with 5 - 6 yrs of experience atleast ... In addition to the choices above said, XLRI has opened a 1 yr MBA-GMP for the batch 2006-07. Currently it is for 3+ yrs managerial exp but prob from next yr it will border around 5-7 managerial exp. The entrance is thru XAT/GMAT(for NRIs) and personal interview. In the first batch the candidates have a profile ranging from Software(TCS,Infy,SAP,Honeywell etc) to Banking(SBI,IDBI,NABARD),Steel(Tata, Ispat etc),Power,SaintGobain(Glass), HLL and the least exp guy in XLRI in the batch has 3 yrs exp and the highest 20 yrs, average being around 5-6 yrs of workex. Infact the course was on for quite sometime but it was a captive XLRI-TataSteel course. Now it has been open for placement . Due to its inception sometime back, the course as such is very structured and costs around 3.5 lakhs. Guess u can check out the rest of the details with XLRI.
