Hi Himanshu

Thanks a lot for your clarifications ! After a lot of research on the net, I just found out this :

The course I was talking of is this : PGPPRM (Post Graduate Professional Programme in Retail Management) -- joint venture of BCIDS+CHROMA ....(on 99% of the sites its written Bhavan's under the academic guidance of SPJIMR provides retail management course in collaboration with CHROMA ) !

Really so confusing and misleading, hopfully it helps others !

By the way : whats the relation between BCIDS and SPJIMR? : is there "any" comparison between the level of the two institutes ???

Thanks a ton again!

Amit there cannot be any comparison between the two. Its like comparing father with his son! BCIDS is is a joint initiative of the leading academic institutions from Bhavan’s Andheri Campus. Its like a big tree. SPJIMR is just a branch of that big tree!!! Although the most popular and renowned of BCIDS institutions is SPJIMR. It is India's premier B-school offering various full time and part time programs like PGPM, PGP, EMBA, FMBA. BCIDS also offers a few short term programs like PPM, PGPMI, PGPPRM,CPMS.

Here is a brief comparison of the 1 yr couses offerd by various institutes in India. As evident from this, 1 yr courses are designed for experienced people only. I have sorted them in order of investment required (fees).

As far as MBS is concerned, its 1st batch will start probably in May. In my personal opinion, it will be really difficult for a new B-school to place all its students in very 1st year. Even IIMs and ISB are finding it difficult to achieve 100% placements (IIMs could barely achieve 100% placement while ISB is still struggling for the same).
In these tough times its always better to stick to a good brand name which will not only give you immediate returns but also will help you in long run.
Also look at the financial aspect while going for an MBA because fees have shot up like anything thanks to the boom in job market in last few years. Now job markets have dried up but fees of these colleges have not come down. So be very careful while deciding how much loans will you go for to finance your education. Remember you will have to pay your EMIs immediately after completing your course even if the global economic situation does not improve.
Also look at the batch size as college can place few students easily as compared to placing 300-400 people.
MBS does not have any past track record to bank upon. Also their fees is on higher side. Its 8 lacs for 1 yr course. I am not very sure what ROI (Returns on Investment) it will be able to give after 1 year. As per my information MBS has not found enough candidates to start their 1st batch.
