Hi Himanshu,

Are interviews actually held outside of Mumbai (Delhi, Blr and Cal) as the options suggest? Or are they just options that may/not be honored based on some criteria???

Thanks!

Hi,
Does SPJIMR actually hold interviews outside Mumbai (Cal, ND, Blr)? Or are they just options for now and the other cities may/not be chosen based on some criteria? Currently telephonic would work best as I am in the US, but I may be traveling back in mid-Jul to Blr. What should I pick - Mumbai or Blr?

Please advice.

Thanks!

Last yr interviews were conducted only at Mumbai or on telephone (for overseas candidates).

Thanks Himanshu. I will add Blr as my preference but will be prepared to travel to Mumbai if I am in India or arrange for a telephonic interview if I continue to be outside India. Thanks again!

SPJIMR PGPM program defies downturn with 100% placement

Year 2009 has so far seen significant reversal in the fortunes of executive MBA programs with leading institutes like ISB, IIMs barring IIM Calcutta extending their executive MBA program placements indefinitely.
The Mumbai based S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR)’s one year Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM) for executives clocked an impressive 100% placement for its 4th batch comprising 56 participants having an average work experience of around 5 years.

The current financial downturn did not dampen the profiles offered to the PGPM participants with some of them bagging positions like Associate Vice President, Senior Principal Information Architect, Industry Analyst, Executive Assistant to Director, Business Development Manager and Operations Consultant. In all, 34 companies recruited from the campus giving 73 offers to the 56 participants of PGPM class of 2008. 20 of these companies were first time recruiters and made 32 offers.

The average increase in salary over last drawn was 46.3% for the batch.
IT/ITES companies dominated the placements with nearly 37% offers. Consulting and Manufacturing firms each accounted for 15 % of total offers while remaining 23% offers were from Telecom, Infrastructure, Banking & Insurance, Power, Automobile and FMCG sector etc. The recruitment base this year comprised of companies mainly from the IT and Manufacturing sectors and included names like JP Morgan Chase, Frost and Sullivan, Tata Consultancy Services, EDS Emphasis, Tata Motors, Boston Analytics, British Telecom, L& T, KPMG, Daimler Hero and others.

SPJIMR adopted the rolling placements approach this year in order to place the participants of the PGPM programme. In addition to this, the strong networks of PGPM alumni were instrumental in providing good support to the batch’s placement initiatives. Embracing the above strategies at an early stage of the Programme allowed the participants to adapt to the ever-changing needs of a dynamic job-market.

The Institute’s enduring philosophies of “Influencing practice” and “Promoting value based growth” resonated well with recruiting companies who visited the campus for placement. Another aspect that has helped the PGPM participants at SPJIMR in these difficult times was the Institute’s unique “T-shaped” pedagogy that provided participants with a broad understanding of all management disciplines while at the same time, emphasizing on their specific areas of specialization. This pedagogic approach coupled with rigorous program architecture has equipped participants to crack interviews in various industry verticals and functional domains.

Hi Himanshu,
This is important information...thanks a lot dude. If I do get shortlisted, I will def follow up (by calling) with the Adcom regarding arranging a Telephonic Interview.

Many thanks dude....you are being a grt help.

Also, thanks for sharing the placement numbers....21 lacs seems impressive. Are there any numbers for avg and median salaries for IM track.

Thanks and Regards

SPJ is pretty slow in responding to e-mails so as a precaution give them a call as well for the same. (based on the experience of our batch students who were interviewed on telephone).

Thanks

Hi Himanshu,

Thanks a lot for your initiative. I do plan to apply for the PGPM batch 2010-11. I will be having 5 years and 2 months of experience in software industry by dec 09. I had appeared for CAT 08. But could manage only 88.88 percentile. Is that good enough to apply?

Pls post your detailed profile...SPJ calls for interview based on overall profile and not on CAT score only.
