This is hearsay; I can't vouch for it, but not likely to be untrue.
Placements for the PGPX batch that graduated just recently were not very good.
A large number of people didn't yet have job offers at the time of graduation, just like the case with ISB.

I guess we will know the full stastics in the next few months, after IIMA places all the PGPX graduates.

i think that your profile is quite competitive plus the additional advantage of being in the foreign applicant pool. an interview is definitely on the cards. as far as GMAT if i were you i would not be worried. i think you should not worry and start planning your applications. unless you screw up there is nothing going against you; on the contrary everything is in your favour.

You have a very good chance.
The very fact that you are a citizen of a different country sets you apart from the rest.
Indian B-schools are quite keen to have foreign passport holders as students. Your GMAT score while below the average for the last batch, may not be such a handicap given that you have 700 and you are an Australian citizen.
The rest depends on your essays and interview, ofcourse.

Re: IIMA PGPX Class of 2011 aspirants! - 29-04-2009, 12:20 PM

hi group of MBA aspirants,
I want to get into the class of 2011 for the IIM-A pgpx program and wish to be evaluated careerwise.

I have a two years gap in work as I was pursuing a PhD in the US and had to discontinue due to family matters and financial need.

Now I am back in the workforce and would like to shift careers from a Research background to a management one.
I have two questions for the forum. In the given cirumtances I have taken the right step how should I project that to the admissions comittee.

please give me some suggestions, I hope this will not adversely affect my prospects for admission.

thanking you

sincerely

Nikhil Shitut

A small comparison
Last year till 29/04/2008 as many as 97 posts were made on the thread for iima pgpx on pagalguy.Refer
http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/intern...cation-10.html (PGPX IV - 2009-10: Application Process and Beyond)
But this year only 29 posts have been made till date [including this one].
There has been drop of 3 times in the number of posts. Recession has changed it all.

you have mentioned that last year this time the application were already out, this year the process has not yet begun that could be one of the reasons for the low volumes of post.
that makes me wonder as to when the applications are going to be out. any one can throw some light on that.
