MBA Direct Admission OR Admission via Consultants- which is better? - 28-01-2009, 07:30 PM

Hi guys,
I'm done with my GMAT, and about to take up my TOEFL next week. I'm done with my SOP too, and would get my Recos ready soon. I'm aiming to start applying for certain UK and US b-schools from the start of March 2009. I'm not taking my MBA just for the sake of a 'degree', but would really need to get into a 'worthy' b-school. My question is, do you think it is better to apply for b-schools via consultants or to personally apply to specific b-schools? Will there be an advantage to go via a consultancy? Does any one has experience or suggestions on this?
Please help!
(My GMAT score: 600)

Thanks!

hi hemant
I was in a similar dilemma few months back... so felt apt to reply...
to put in simple words.. consultant fills the information gap.. (and thats what consultant gets paid for)
what i mean is....
if u r clear which schools u want to apply and you have decent writing skills and you have friends (who have beeen thru the admission process) who can review your essays... NO NEED for a consultant...
all consultants do is
1. tell u which schools are good for ur profile
2. edit your essays to remove redundant points and highlight important ones

hope it makes something clear...
