Re: ISB class of 2011 aspirants!!! - 07-11-2009, 06:15 PM

Hi,
I am a re-applicant to ISB who got an i/v call last year but no call this year . My interview location was Kolkata and with all the i/v done at that location I am actually waiting for the ding mail which should be on its way by next week (as per verbal comm from admissions office )

Kolkata location initially had 4-5 days planned for i/v (21st -25th of Oct) which were later reduced to 2 days (28th-29th Oct). Dunno if this was the reason for my ouster . ATB to all those who appeared for the i/v.

Anyway, I heard that ISB 2009 had a difficult placement season with almost 150 not been placed when the session ended. Can anyone corroborate on this

Guys I know this must have been asked zillion time before but can some one pls tell me - when does Isb start giving out results? I know the supposed date is 25 nov but does isb give results before the deadline? What was the case last time? can people from delhi (who had their interviews first) expect to get results first?

thanks in advance!

Last year for R1, the results were declared on the date specified and that too late into the evening, around 9 P.M. All results( selection , deferred selection, rejection and wait list) are send simultaneously.

However the year before that, results were declared some days prior to the said date, but were again simultaneous.

Regards.

Hi All ,
I know I am probably late in asking this , but which is the best place to get one's essay reviewed (i.e. professional help ) ? or did everyone write it themselves and went ahead ?

Hello Puys

My apologies for late reporting, I was traveling back to India and could not be regular with pagalguy. I checked this thread after 5 days and I had to go through 50+ pages.

I received the holy mail on 5th nov

Interview date 12th Nov- 11AM IST

Puys,

I had my interview over a week ago. It was over the phone. I could not find time until now to post my experience. I apologize for the delay.

Overall, ALL the questions were from my application only. I was asked to justify and back up claims on my application. I just gave very straight answers and that really helped me relax and be myself.

The entire interview was only 20 minutes and like I mentioned there were no questions outside my application. I did not even get questions like "Why ISB?" or "Why now?".

I was asked about plan B (in case I am not able to make the career switch that I desire). So be sure you have an answer ready for that.

On the whole, I only have three suggestions:

1. Don't over prepare. The interview is only about 20-30 minutes. Just relax and be yourself and the answers will come naturally.
2. Just be very straight and plain about your answers. I don't think fancy words will impress the interview panel. Speak from the heart.
3. Read your application and essays a few times before the interview. Be ready to back anything you have on your application.

Thanks and good luck!

I wrote it myself and had a couple of alims take a look and give me feedback. I truly believe an MBA essay has to be written by you. No matter how good the professional writer is, it'l show. If its just review, you can go ahead and get it done. Just be sure you do your research, some of those out there are just out to loot gullibles and some have outrageous rates too. Personally, I havent used any so cant comment, but do the research and get independent feedback.

Re: ISB class of 2011 aspirants!!! - 07-11-2009, 10:41 PM

Hi all,

I have a unique (perhaps sloppy) issue.

I am a re-applicant. In the last one year I had a major relocation and I simply cannot find the copies of the old application among my stuff.

Is it possible to get the copy of the old application? Its not that I am totally blank about my old application. But obviously I would like to refer to the copy directly.

Thank you all and good luck!

Asish

Re: ISB class of 2011 aspirants!!! - 07-11-2009, 11:16 PM

Hey guys...done with the interview. Would have been around 15-20 mins. Unexpectedly, they asked the usual questions like why MBA now? What do you do in your leisure time? Questions related to my hobbies and so on. Nothing new that hasn't been posted already.

Overall, not at all stressful and obviously I don't know what to make of it. But at least I'm done with the application from my side.

Curiously, the guy before me also had a short interview of about 10 min. I reached the venue 1 hour ahead of my time and around the time my i/v was scheduled to begin, I actually came out of the room!
