Then How do you explain that for a R1 intake of around 300 guys they are calling 1000+ people in i/v ?

I think the way it goes they have top 10% who are like sure selction. Now for the rest of the people they have different dimensions to fill in e.g 1. GMAT 2. GPA. 3.WE 4. Reco. 5. Essay 6.I/v etc. People who are scoring in a certain range in all the other dimensions san i/v (sy 10 people in 50-60 ball point range) are given i/v call to check a. best among equals b. the honesty and integrity of the profile.

The points gathered from i/v is added to other dimensions and the best rated one wins .

just my 0.02 cents.

Guys,

I am still waiting for the iv call. Since that's beyond my control I don't want to discuss it here.

My question here is:

I am applying to INSEAD as well as NUS for R2. If the iv panel asks me what will I do if I got into any of the schools say INSEAD and ISB which one I am going to choose and why? I have strong reasons for either of them. I wanted to understand if I can be honest here. What if I say I would like to go INSEAD if I get in both. Will that reply close my doors to ISB? Please lend me your thoughts.

Cheers,
Sid

Hi Puys,
This is my first post on pagalguy. I am not a frequent visitor. I got an interview invite today, and thats when i decided to make a profile (This is the third time am typing this message, i seem to do something incorrectly each time!)
I am a re-applicant, got a reject last time without getting an intv invite.
My intv is on the 11th nov, 11:45 IST
My profile:
GMAT: 710/4.5
work ex:4 yrs/intl trade/notable achievements
Acads and ECS: avg

Thanks a tonne to you puys for making this site so informational. I pretty much never had much to talk about except my frustration.Nevertheless apologise for not taking the time to give back. Its been a rollercoaster ride since the time i submitted my application.
Any pharma guys out there, who have had their interviews?

It is better to be diplomatic than to be utterly honest. Instead of hoping that the doors will remain open, answer it in such a way that the doors do remain open. For example, you could list out the good qualities you found in each of the schools, say you will talk to as many alumna as possible and re-evaluate very carefully what you are looking for in an MBA degree before making a decision.

You could joke that even though it is a dilemma, you'd want nothing more than to be in a situation like that. One very good way to end the answer is to turn the question over to them and ask them what their advice would be if you approached them for help.

This way, you would be honest and genuine but at the same time, able to evade their question. If they realize you didn't answer their question directly, they will at least acknowledge that you have a structured approach to finding the answer. If they are enthusiastic, they might even end up giving you some very valuable advice.

Hope this helps.

Well, you need to be diplomatic. I know someone (or read in BW forum) who was asked the same question at Said, Oxford. He said he would chose INSEAD over Said because it was his dream school. So next adcom says it was nice talking to you. And he received a ding from SBS. Luckily for him he got through INSEAD

Hi Guys,

I came to see this forum and found it very helpful.I am also interested in joining isb.I am just concerened about the job opportunities once we complete the course.Though I read that ISB has 100%placement, I wanted to know how much is it true. Also is there chances for getting jobs abroad higher?Anybody knows how many got jobs abroad as soon as they completed the course?IS there any companies from abroad coming to campus for hiring?

Please clarify if anybody has any idea.

Hi Puys,

Just finished my interview. My Profile: 700/7+ IT Exp (4 years International)/Client Team Lead/good acads and OK ECs.

It was a telephonic interview with skype thrown in for some fun. 2 member panel Amit (probably an ALUMNI/STUDENT) and Deepak (Deputy Director - Learning and Development (I Think)).

Q1: Think for 30 seconds and speak for a minute about Credit Cards. Wish it was the other way around!!!
Q2: You are a Reapplicant. What was the feedback and whats changed.
Q3: You say you are an SME. I find it hard to believe.
Q4: Would you be able to use your SME expertise to explain the business report to a CA.
Q5: What book are you reading. What is it about.
Q6: What was your role in building the project to its current state.
Q7: Where do you see yourself immediately after ISB?
Q8: Any questions for us.

All finished in 13 minutes! All questions from the application itself. Now the nail biting hair pulling agonizing wait begins. Like many of us here, I dont know what to make out from this short and sweet (?) interview.

Cheers.

Hey All the best.

I too was thinking why the interviews are only for 10-20 minutes. And that too most of the times purely from the application.

So does all this mean that the interviews are just one of the criterion and it makes me think that they surely are not make or break types. Isnt it??

I am sure many puys had it even for as less as 10 minutes.
