This quote is from bernardshaw !

I think if there are not enough applicants, no of seats will come down from 80 to 40 or so.

No doubt it is a good college. So perhaps your joke stands nothing to IIM-B. Although I prefer ISB to IIM-B, I am sure that next yr situation would be different. I am sure there would be a big queue in front of IIM-B very soon.

Re: IIM Bangalore - EPGP: Interview Shortlist and beyond - 17-10-2008, 10:00 PM

Me too shortlisted, like everyone else ... Submitted the application at around 11 PM on 15th and got the interview mail by 5PM on 16th.
So pretty sure that they did not really read the SOP or LOR. And the SOP was just a couple of paragraphs - nothing impressive.

Profile : 750/10yrs/IT/F , EC:Poor, Acad:Good

Other applications till now :
PGPX : Interview on 20th Oct
ISB : Still waiting

round-1 is complete and round-2 is currently on ... if the number of candidates in round-1 is less, then there might be fewer offers and the institute may want to gauge the response in round-2 before finalizing the admit list.

isb also has a similar two-round application cycle. if you go by isb-trend, round-1/round-2 admit ratio is less than 1 => more offers in round-2 alongwith overlap from round-1

basic demand and supply problem...IIMB will not have many choices.. so if they don't want to leave seats vacant they will have less stringent criteria during interviews..

And i think IIMB would be using elimination process rather than selection process.

Agree with you that IIM-B (round-2) and IIML will attract a common pool as both offers would be released roughly at the same time.

i'm not sure about your second point that declaring results early would enable IIMB to pull applicants. i do not know the dates for isb cycles, but in general all schools give approx. one month time period to accept offers and arrange for initial deposits (which itself runs into lacs). so people should have sufficient time to enroll in their dream schools. consider the below:

IIMA list - 31st Oct
IIMC list - also expected by 31st Oct (else second week of Nov as mentioned on the site)
IIM B list - 20th Nov
ISB list - also expected in Nov

infact this time around, the timings are great in the sense that all options are open PROVIDED A PERSON CRACKS ALL LISTS

I also got the shortlist msg within two days of submitting my application.

I have applied for ISB a month back, but it is yet to come out with complete i/v call list. There has already been a long wait for final list of IIIMC. IIMA is also finishing final leg of the interview tour.

In such a scenario, I really appreciate the quick response.

Though I already have great regards for the faculty of IIMB, it gives me one more reason to endorse my belief in the institute and the programme.

Being the first batch, application form was not well drafted and some important information like hobbies/ EC were not picked. But this does not put any doubt on the capability of Institute like IIMB.

Claps for IIMB ADCOM.
You were not the first but you are the fastest and as you know, speed matters.

am confused..really dunno whassup with iimb...actually i saw the exp criteria after applying and was not hopeful at all...

i dunno whether they wud realise the mistake in the interview and give me a ding there...or i am wondering if they thought my profile was so damn good(which i don't think it is) that they thought i deserved a shortlist...

however i dont see a reason for giving larger-than-life importance to such technicalities...

i am not sure whether to send my gmat score thru pearson's or not...
