Dear Lokesh,

As an EA round admit to duke I know duke puts a lot of emphasis on you proving that duke is your top choice school. Did you try to make sure of this during your interview/essays? If you are based in US and didnt go for an oncampus interview, I would suggest that you do so.

Have you applied in top schools like HSW etc ? My fear is that looking at your profile schools like duke/cornell may think that this guy would surely get in the top schools and hence they waitlist you. So its your job now to make sure that you truely want to join their school only.

CALLING ALL DUKE 2009 ADMITS
==============================

First of all congratulations for getting the admit. All of us have done a great job. But journey is not over .
As you know because of financial crisis bschools are experiencing difficulties in giving loans to international students . I am one of those international students who wouldn't be able to attend the school if I do not get a loan without cosigner.

Me and my fellow international admits have already created a group of international admits so that we can form a common voice while communicating to duke regarding our concerns.

So I am calling all the duke international admits who think they are affected by this situation to send me an email on vishalchopra@hotmail.com.If you know anybody else who recently got admit from Fuqua, please direct him/her to me.

Thanks,

Vishal

Hi Vishal,

Even I belong the to the group that would find it diffucult to join Duke without the availability of "loan without co-signer".

But as Duke has been responding to e-mails ( loan queries) that it is trying to make such loan available, do you think a common voice can make a greater (positive) impact.

If it can, everybody should collectively communicate with Duke at the earliest possible.

Have sent an e-mail to you.

EA and R1 admits are following up with Duke. Vishal is leading the effort .

@lokesh..Your numbers look excellent. I'd suggest call all the schools you applied to and get feedbacks. I know Tuck is generous with feedback, not sure about Duke.

Abhyudaya, are you aware of other schools that have confirmed continual of the international loan (without co-signer). Maybe this can increase the possibilty of Duke making available such loan.

I think you updated us with the latest.. that Duke has sent e-mails to EAs.. that it is trying hard to make the loan available. You live in Durham. Have you spoken to any of the FY students about the availability of the loan for them in the SY.

Thanks,

v

Re: Duke Fuqua - 2009 - 25-12-2008, 05:07 PM

All the early round and R1 applicants, please answer some of my admission form related queries

1. I am taking one recommendation from my last company team lead. But in relationship to you I only see : Current Immediate Supervisor, Former Manager and Former Colleague. Now what should I write here. Ideally there shud have been Former Supervisor. What u guys chose here? I sent a mail to adcom 7 days back but have got no response.

2. Do we have send anything by post? such as transcripts and documents etc

3. Which all docs u uploaded for transcripts. I have 10 sheets as transcripts. 8 for all 8 sem marksheet, 1 degree certi and 1 consolidated marksheet. Should i only upload consolidated marksheet and degree

Please answer my queries fast it would help me a lot in filling my application form
thanks in advance

hi Gogzi,

Following are the answers to your questions:

1. Your former team lead would qualify as former colleague. Ask him/her to clearly state in the recommendation that he was your senior and was in a position to evaluate your performance. If adcom gets a sense that you were peers, you are doomed.

2. No. nothing is required.

3. upload the consolidated marsheet . Mae sure it has marks for all subjects.Otherwise you would need to create a single document for 8 sem marksheets.

Let me know if you have more questions.
