Re: Duke Fuqua - 2009 -

HI Everyone,
Had my Duke interview today.
The interviewer was a 2nd Year student majoring in Finance. He seemed without any emotions what so ever right from the beginning, so I don’t really know what his feedback would have been. He did not even introduce himself in the beginning, which I thought was pretty weird.
Mostly standard questions – walk through the resume, why MBA, why Fuqua, proudest achievement, idea of a team, what do you think about ethics (this one stumped me) and a follow up hypothetical situation about my friend being involved in some fraud and how I would react, and some small follow up questions.
I asked him about his profile, the Duke Global Reach Initiative and how it would affect (he gave a very blunt answer and even criticized Duke at a couple of places, which surprised me) the Duke experience, about the Leadership Development Initiative and involvement of Coach K, etc
Waiting for the result now.

Why so serious?

The couple of points that he mentioned were about the Duke brand name, and its exchange program. It is very well recognized in US, but not too well known outside it. He said that currently the exchange programs were with relatively lesser ranked Univs. He also said these might change after the Global Reach program.

I am an R1 applicant from India with the following profile:
-690, 5.5
-10yrs WorkEx, IT Presales
So far i have not heard anything from Duke (except for the completion status email around 2nd week of November). Can someone guide if i should write to addmissions office to check on the status or just wait till the 19th december deadline?
Also can someone comment: since i have not heard anything from them does this mean my chances of hearing from them are really low?

Re: Duke Fuqua - 2009 -

Hi everyone,
I had my interview with a 2005 alumni working in a well known US financial services company. He is Greek by birth which meant that I had to do a little research to get his name pronounced correctly!! He explained to me at the outset about the interview process and how this will be tagged along my entire application process.
Most of the questions he asked were standard ones. Walk me through your resume, why you chose this profession, why MBA, why now, why Fuqua, clubs you will join, the leaders you admire and why, the most important qualities a leader must have, success and failure examples in your life.
I asked him about his own experience in Fuqua.
Overall, I am very satisfied with my interview. He said "good", "great" at some points of my interview (unlike ISB interview where all the interviewers were sombre throughout) which encouraged me to be myself.
hope this helps
cheers

Hi Somnath
That surely looks like a good interview.. Can you share about the things that he shared about the process and how the interview result would be tagged to the rest of app??
For others,
I too had my Fuqua interview last Tuesday..

he asked me not to give too much importnace to the interview. He will submit his evaluation to Fuqua and then the AdCom will take into consideration my academic results, achievements, GMAT score, work ex, interview and "fit" with the school.
