Re: Duke Fuqua - 2009 - 19-11-2008, 11:34 PM

ok folks, i called the adcom today at duke and they tell me that i wont be getting any interview call if i already have'nt received one already, which i havent. they also said that if i got a application complete email from them then it means that they have all the data necessary to take a decision on my profile. The adcom member however tried to tell me that not having interviewed is not detrimental to my application. I take that with a pinch of salt however, because i had written my apps in such a way that an interview could explore in greater depth who i am.

that said, december 19th is the d-day, so until then i have my fingers crossed!!

Meanwhile I have sent my number to Vishal.
I would agree to your point that we should communicate with Duke once some concrete information is conveyed.

However, Vishal and I were of the opinion to form a group of admits who may be impacted in case Duke goes the Ross way !!! We can still continue to look for other admits !!!

Duke has indeed gone the Ross way . Received the packet today, it clearly mentions that International students will need a US co-signer. So Duke joins Ross, Columbia, Wharton, etc. As of now, only Harvard is guaranteeing loans without U.S. co-signer to int'l students.

That's painful Kunal. It would be a huge disappointed to miss out Duke because this issue cropped up.

Loan without co-signer was one of my shortlisting criteria - I don't know about other aspirants. In tough market situations when B-schools know they are safe place for applicants to be in, it should ideally be other way around that schools show some confidence in the incoming students.

Neverthless, you never get ideal world. For me, it's hunt for alternatives now on !!!

Bad news!! :(
I'll take that as a ding.. B'coz I know my app was not powerful enough to warrant an admit w/o interview.. And I don't know of any admits w/o interview in Early Action too.

 So, it is sure that all interview invites have already been sent out for R1? Or, is it still under review?

Any idea, what %age gets in without an interview?

Earlier international applicants would get loan just on the basis of Duke's or any tier-1 school's admit letter. But because of the current credit crunch, the loan must be co-applied by either a US citizen or a Permanaent Resident; further his/her credit history will decide the rate of interest.

Ok. I got an invite for interview. Infact, alumni interview. Excited but little bit worried. I applied in R1. Any advice?:

I'd go through the Fuqua interview question bank on accepted.com
That said, Fuqua interviews are pretty standard.
