Hey puys,

Did y'all receive a letter from kfbs requesting you to check the status on the decision deadline and asking you to inform them for any address changes? The first time I saw the mail beginning "Thank you for applying to ...", I thought I had managed the impossible, an early ding from kfbs!!!

Yeah, that "Deadline Release" mail. Got it on March 6. From what I've read on the forums so far, UNC sends in all accept/reject decisions together and apparently, they won't be doing that before the deadline for sure. Check this out if you haven't already, from the Kenan-Flagler blog:

Here’s a quick update from the admissions front. We’re about ¾ of the way through our admissions season (well, 3 of our 4 deadlines have passed). We are about to make admissions decisions on round 3 (January round) applicants. And they’ll hear from us on March 23rd (and not a day earlier!). We’re very pleased with the quality of the applicant pool so far this year. Lots of applicants with great numbers in addition to strong work experience and amazing interpersonal skills…a powerful combination.

My profile:

GMAT: 700 (Q:81%, V:88%, AWA:5.0)
iTOEFL: 112
Work-ex: 4 yrs as on Fall '09 (Marketing, including exp in Belgium and short stints in London and Chicago)

As soon as I submitted Part 1, I scheduled my personal interview for Jan 9 in Mumbai, and sent in Part 2 later that day. I thought maybe I'd get a quicker decision since I completed the interview much earlier, but nah, they told me to wait till March 23.

I have received the same email.
I am in a difficult situation, I should pay my Rotman Deposit by March 23 and UNC decisions will be released on the same day. Don't know what to do. Do you think UNC may do an exception and send my decision earlier? I had a good interview with UNC (I think so as the interviewer continuously mentioned impressive!! excellent!! or may be these are the words that they say in any interview – will see) and expecting a positive decision.

Firstly, congrats for making to Rotman! I would certainly be expecting a positive decision if I were already selected by another competitive b-school.

I don't know how it works, but perhaps you could request Rotman to give you a couple of days more, if what you already mentioned doesn't work. I don't think they'd be THAT strict with the deposit deadlines.

Hmmm...I'm not too sure about my interview performance now. I got a lot of "excellent"s too...:tellme:

Thanks!

Hope to get UNC. Already received a ding from Duke.
For Rotman is very difficult to get a loan
UNC provides guaranteed loan - so in case of admission I will probably choose UNC. I liked Chapel Hill and UNC campus very much!!
Do you think the interviewers react similarly to all applicants - I mean excellents!! impressives!! my hope is decreasing

Hey All,

I am a current student at UNC's Kenan Flagler Business School. I wish you luck for the upcoming deadline. I should say that please contact me before making a decision about UNC. You can send me a private message and I will respond as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Anshul

Was good to hear from you, anshul.. we keep hearing "mine is an awesome school", "I had a great time" from current students all the time.. but to hear something critical is more useful, since it helps us plan..

Will certainly get in touch with you if I hear from KFBS next monday..
