From airport = approx 40 minutes by taxi.
However the problem is that taxi-drivers / union fleece you real bad at Mumbai airport. They'll charge you 4 times the actual fare.
The way to beat it is to walk past airport taxis to just outside the airport (which is a fair distance).

Not aware of hotels, but any decent hotel would be damn expensive because you are talking of South Mumbai (albeit not the southernmost tip).

I got the final admit offer for IIMC PGPEX III today . So most probably, I will not be attending the interview for IIML on Monday. All the best to everyone..This forum has immensely helped me in this journey. nope.. m still waiting for their reply... dis is not expected frm them... if they cant manage few i/v change requests.. how can they teach management....

THere are some just-about-decent hotels in Dadar and a few budget hotels in Sout Mumbai ===> VT (now CST) / Cotton Green / Crawford Market etc. I'll say go ahead and make early bookings coz these get booked fast.

Commute: Walk out with your suitcase-on-wheels (airport area roads are good). Not sure but I think they do have BEST buses plying to airport. Just try to get out of airport. Once out take a meter-taxi (they do not generally fleece; you can hand them the hotel address). 150-200 bucks.

BTW, Mumbai is killing humid all through the year. Probably someone from Kolkata can manage but I still feel it despite my on-n-off Mumbai location.

I myself am thinking in terms of Dadar or nearby stay because I do not want to commute 1 - 1.5 hours on interview day (from Kharghar, which is essentially not Mumbai).

Received my holy shortlist snail-mail y'day and opened it today about 10 min back ==> I stand corrected!
I thought L has handed over i/v schedule in advance, and will not ask a group of people to report at the same time. However, it is now clear that at least 4 people have been asked to report at 10 am 16/Dec at HMATC-Mumbai.

Right now in Pune (to attend an offiste today, Eid Holiday) and will stay this week here. Planning to book a hotel in Dadar instead of travelling from Navi Mumbai to Dadar on 16.
