Its neither the new (most recent) one nor the average. Its the highest score you get in any number of attempts you make ... which is taken into consideration by Univ.

go to GMAC.org for all clarifications..

Not necessarily. In many schools, its the GMAT score you ask them to look at. In the app. you can specify which scores you want them to look at.

In other cases as capreal mentioned - they take the highest scores and proceed. However if you absolutely sure about the school you are applying to - then do contact them

But why would I want a Univ to look at my not-the-best score

unless its a 800 & Univ is stanford

"Do you like storms?"
"Hell no.. they scare the crap out of me"
"Then why do you always go sailing when the winds are at their worst?"
"To be free of crap"

whatever

Yep. All your scores are visible to the univ... but one interesting thing I found out a couple of days ago .. they dont have access to the list of other places you've sent your scores to.

ya but all the scores are visible to the Univ. Even a single bad score can influence their decision.

IMO, GMAT Scores are not a deal maker. guys get into schools like Cornell with 650's. i know one myself. On the other hand, some schools like columbia are reported to be obsessed with GMAT scores and are labelled by students something which i dont want to write here.

I am not absolutely sure, but i think Harvard didnt even have a requirement for GMAT sometime in the last decade...its only later they brought in that requirement.
