8. Yes, worked in Germany, Netherlands, UK and USA.

Do I have a fair chance of getting an interview call from GMP?I am planning to apply for 2009 session. When will the application process start?

thanks Sunil/Siva..
indeed no harm applying..Are there any couples in the present batch..? just curious, cos me and my wife would be applying.
It would really kind of you if you can throw some light on the present batch diversification.I personally know that 1 person from Retail & 1 from Army background are currently studying, but nothing beyond that..
Does XL really give immense weigtage to a diversified background..:-) or its the Brand Names for which one has worked, doing the trick?

Hi Som,
Indeed, you have a good profile to be called up for interview.GMAT can be a downpuller, so, if yu have an option, you can improve your GMAT , I would say a scoe of 700 is a safe bet for applying to B-schools with your kind of experience.
The admission process is already open.. please check this link :
General Management Programme India, Program for Working Executives - XLRI Jamshedpur.
The last date is 15th January 2009.All the best !!

Hi Brandmanager,
sorry, there are no married couples in the present batch, however, who knows we might have prospective couples after we pass out from here ..
However, for your information , there are around 15 students who have brought their families here and living happily , including me .....
We will divulge the details of our profile and will upload them on the xlri website, once we finalize the brochure..
Regarding the weightage, diversified background do matter and so do the brand name.. however, it is the collective package which brings you here along with GMAT and interviw experience.
if it is a combination of both, your probability increases.

Sunil/Siva/Meera
Good to have a download about your backgrounds.Helps us immensely.
Have a few queries.
The Number of applicants for GMP in 2008,i mean the seats VS applicants ratio.I guess it should not be more than 1:10 which is generally the case across B-schools, correct me if i am wrong.
After the submission of the application form(which does not require any SOP,Reco's or detailed questions on strength/weakness etc),what is the selection procedure, once the application is selected. Is it only an interview?
Would Reco's Sop's etc would be required, need to plan/arrange accordingly.
The Male:Female ratio in your batch, Is due weigtage given to female candidates..as is the case in other B-schools? ( My wife would be applying ,along with me)
Is Family Acco available..?
How Many Retail/AUtomotive/Marketing background students are there in the current Batch.
Warm regards

Hello Sunil,
Can you please give me an idea about the number of participants from Govt. services?
I have six years of experience in Govt. services with diversified work profile which includes, Technology Forecasting, Technology Development Assistance, Public Private Partnership, SME cluster development. I have good acads and extra curriculars.
My GMAT score is bit lower (80%ile). Would my diverse background help to over come this? I am not in a position to appear for GMAT again. Shall I try for XAT in that case?
Thanks and regards

Hi Sunil/Siva
A very Basic Question, but which has numerous connotations in India B-school context.
What is diversity..?Is it Any Indian male who is not part of the IT industry( this is what i have gathered in my discussions from lots of Aspiring students, as well as international B-school students)
If thats the case, whats the ratio of applications of IT Vs Non IT experience
Do sectors like Automotive/Retail have any distict advantage
cheers
